I'm not an active person on social media; I use Hive and shun the rest; I'm not that interesting - Sure, I do a few cool things, have travelled extensively, have perspectives on life, love, self-improvement and other such things, can be funny, a bit of a knucklehead and generally good value, but I hardly see that as different to anyone else or in the least bit interesting - Certainly not enough for others to take note on social media.
I enjoy Hive though and have done so for the 1545 days I have been here, up to and including this very one. It's been good to me and I've met some really cool people.
I've always felt it's advantageous to act in a certain manner here, to present myself in a way that shows I'm open to engagement, happy to interact, friendly and approachable. I think that's worked so far as a few choose to engage with me here and there. I guess I feel that a little community-minded action is what's required here and I've tried to lead by example personally and through the support of individuals, concepts initiatives and the community in general. I'm only a little fish, but small things done often can add up right?
Community support
As part of my community-mindedness I've been running a few little concepts myself including the #weekend-engagement topic, this week's you can find here - week 65 and I have a couple of my own communities as well being The Pew: Guns & more , THE WEEKEND and Lego Community all of which I created just to drop my own posts in now and then, but which I opened to all of course.
Lately I've also been supporting small communities (and individuals) through prize donations and a posting contest concept with the first two being:
Shadows and reflections contest - For the Shadow Hunters Community
and the
Grandparent stories contest - For the Silver bloggers community
These were both reasonably successful contests that some of the Hive community seemed really keen to support - Thank you.

On Tuesday 7th September I'll be releasing a new posting contest in conjunction with @edenmichelle so stay tuned for that one if you like...It'll be very easy and hopefully a lot of fun also.
I get a great deal of enjoyment from Hive, the writing I do for it is where that begins; however connecting people, bringing people together into the one time and place through a post or commenting, is also very rewarding and, I think, is very important for the fun factor and the ongoing health of our blockchain.
Fun is the key...We're not all professional writers, photographers, musical artists, intellectuals, sporting personalities or whatever...We're just a bunch of humans, all fallible, flawed and funnily enough, stuck on this planet...I figure we might as well enjoy the journey right? We might as well be a community, in the real world and on hive. So that's why I push that agenda in myself on Hive and in the Hive community in general.
I need your help - A question
With that in mind I'm asking for a favour...Something I'm not all that comfortable in doing to be honest as self-reliance is my preferred option. But I'm going to ask.
I'm looking for a couple of communities to promote and assist for my next couple of contests, after the one already set for this release this Tuesday. If you run one, or subscribe to one, that may be interested in having a community-specific contest run by me please let me know in the comments below - Hook me up with the owner of the community so that I can see how I may be able to help, or hit me up if you're the owner.
As someone who has been around for a while I feel it's my duty to have a community-minded ethos; this means support of the community through concepts and engagement, bringing people together and through attitude-adjusting plagiarists, bad actors, and those looking to tear down or take advantage of what others have worked hard to build. it's the responsibility of us all in truth, or should be.
I hope y'all might be able to throw a few ideas at me below in respect of my question above and I hope y'all have a great weekend.

I identify very much with your lines, and the way you work I think is the right way because with mutual help we can make the hive the world where we want to live and that is worth living. Thinking with respect to the question and the help you are asking for, I know several communities that are being born but many of them are Spanish speaking, if you want to support them we will talk about them later.
I know of a project in which I participate that is called @elcomentador that here if your help would be very valuable, I tell you a little is a project that heals and interacts in the comments under the policy that a well-rewarded post is fine but a post rewarded and no comments is a lost post is as if no one empathized with your content or simply voted without reading, that project is being relaunched and I believe that this type of interaction is very necessary at all scales.

I don't think of them as smart or more talented really; just people who experienced life differently than I have. Some of the best wisdom I have ever gained has come from people who no one will ever remember. Not notable, overly talented or intelligent.

This is true. But I do love to see people more talented and smarter than me. I'm an artist so to me Van Gogh is a level I will never achieve but because I choose not to. My purpose isn't to become a great painter. And I actively seek out genius to learn from. I want to learn as much as possible in my lifetime. And I believe that I can learn from anyone even if they aren't geniuses or famous etc. ❤️
My father was an artist, made his living that way, and he taught me that the value of art is unique to the beholder. What one loves another rejects. I may find your art more appealing than I do Van Gogh's...Does that make his art bad? No. Does it make me a bad judge of art? No. Just one who see's things my own way; as finally others.
As you say, taking lessons and understanding from all quarters is valuable.

I think it's an awesome idea to crowd source ideas from the community, @galenkp. And while this isn't a community (more a project, as far as I know), it's the first thing that popped into my brain, probably because I just recently became acquainted with it myself. So my suggestion is maybe doing some sort of contest involving for @steevc's @tenkminnows, as it seems it would be inline with your most excellent idea of community support. 😊

I had an 'airy(ish) kinda idea' that crossed my mind while posting in my community (Cinnamon Cup Coffee) twice recently... both posts had a weekend(ish) motive...that made me think that maybe The Weekend & 3Cs Coffee could collaborate on a one-off project.
I haven't given it much thought yet to present my idea in a sensible way, but when I saw this post, I thought I might as well mention it.
I've only ever hosted one competition in my community and would be great for me keep the ball rolling with another. I'm a one-man show at the moment, and learning along the way, so I have nothing concrete in mind yet, and would need to know if this is in keeping with your mission.
I've seen the community but not really scratched the surface to be honest. I htink we could do something. Hit me up on Discord if you like, we'll plan something out. ✅

This isn't really about my topics of interest, more about community support, gaining profile for communities or concepts and bringing people together. I'm open to talk about it, off the blockchain of course and also to hear from the gardening community. You've tagged them so I'm sure if they're interested they'll give me a holler.
Well you know of course, I would like to see you finally commit to that drone and help us get an active drone community going. There are/have been a few, but I don't see much active posting, and a few of them have died off. It's been on my mind, but not sure I have the cycles to spin up a new one and do it justice just yet with all the work and personal changes recently. Maybe in a few months that will change. Maybe when you get your drone and post pics to help motivate me, lol.
I don't think I have the energy to start another community to be honest and one about drones, when I don't have a drone, wouldn't be legit I think. I'm still thinking about the drone, still want it, but I've got other priorities that will come first...Unless someone hands me a pile of money. I'm open to that.
Can I make a suggestion? If you don't have enough people (or not ready to fully create a community) to support an actual drone community just yet....you can always just start promoting a new hashtag!

A great initiative, Galen! I am the owner of the #MarketFriday, a small niche community interested in sharing different markets and cultures across the globe as we go places, do things, and buy merchandise. I learn something new every week.
Not only that but, you get to see it from a real perspective, not at all like the glossy pages of some travel magazine.
To be honest, I am not sure how you can help me, but, it has been around since I came 4 years ago. It is not huge, but, many new people start out here, as showing off your life is something everyone can do.

#pinkyandspiky is niche community/ Drawing Contest created by @organduo. I don't consider my account here big but if I am not mistaken it is one of the biggest among contest participants. Despite that most of those people are constantly making entries in this contest. I believe that this is a sign that most of them intend to be here for a long time. I am sure that they could use some help in growing bigger.
I could also mention Hive Gaming... But that would mainly be because I am quite active there. So #pinkyandspiky is probably closer to what you are looking for.
