If you are in Southern California and are on Steemit you are officially invited to join us for a meet up and BBQ!!
So... we understand that Southern California is a large area. And so we do plan to rotate the locations of the @socalsteemit meetups throughout the different areas of SoCal and we hope to work on building sub-communities (S.D., L.A., O.C., I.E., etc...) within the #socalsteemit community that could be meeting on a more regular basis. For the location of this meetup we have chosen Fairmount park in Riverside!!
The park is very nice and fairly large with lots of amenities. There are 3 lakes which provide for fishing and lots of trees which make the place a haven for birdlife. There are picnic tables, bbqs, drinking fountains, playgrounds, tennis and basketball courts, horseshoe pits, rose gardens... and the list goes on.
Fairmount Lake
Date/time - Sunday, February 25th at 2pm
Location - Fairmount Park, 2241 Market St, Riverside, CA 92501
Directions - From the 60 freeway exit Market St. and go south. The park will be on the right. You can enter the park on Redwood Dr. or Locust St. I recommend Locust as that goes directly to the southeast parking area which is closest to the picnic areas we plan to use. I will make a large sign (or 2) to make it easier to find and ID the group.

We will also be discussing our plans and ideas for growing and supporting the #socalsteemit community into the future. This is only our second IRL meetup (we've done voice chat meetups over Discord as well). So we're still pretty new. Right now I have 6 confirmed and 7 'maybes'. And I'm still trying to get the word out so, hopefully we can get 10 or so. We will be BBQing so if you'd like maybe bring something to grill. No obligation to though as I'm sure with what we're already bringing there will be plenty to go around. We'll have some vegetarian stuff available as well, in case that applies to you.

Glad you are having this. I live in Sherman Oaks so this is a bit too far away for me, but I'll try to see if I can make it.
If you can make it we'd love to have you there! If not we will be doing more meetups in the future. We've met in the O.C. already and this is in the I.E., so I'm thinking the next meetup will probably be in the L.A. area. But we'll be deciding that at this meetup so I'm not totally sure yet.
