My judges guidelines for the IFC.

in #contest5 years ago (edited)

Greetings. I am the dreamer of the Information Finding Championship.

I would like to welcome all those who are interested in learning more about how I will personally be basing my votes.

I came up with the idea for this competition, however.. It would be nothing without all of the individual people who help and the players who play, so thank you for being a part of all this.

The first season was very exciting in my opinion and a lot of people told me they had a lot of fun. I hope this season is similar!

We sort of made it up to a large degree as we went along and we continue to refine and change things as we feel it is reasonable to do so.

These guidelines are part of that process as some members of the community expressed a desire to know more details about how the judges vote.

Each judge is different which I think is a beautiful and great thing, so we do not try to force or control how they vote.

In light of that you should look at each judges guidelines if you would like to know more about each judge and their personal preferences and ideas on the matter, I will include links to the other guidelines and the official contest posts will include a link to these as well.

I personally highly value original content and original thoughts, so being unique and creative is a major plus in my eyes.

I also think it's important to properly source your information and if you don't have the rights to use some form of content then you should probably not be using it in this contest.

I am MUCH less likely to vote for someone's entry if they do not have the proper rights to post that content as I don't want any legal problems to deal with. SO PLEASE.. Try to make sure you have the rights to post something if you want to get a vote from me.

I also appreciate proper grammar, proper punctuation, and entries that are neither too short nor too long. It can be exhausting reading through many long entries and difficult on my eyes after a while, so I would appreciate you try to keep that in consideration and don't make your entries extremely lengthy.

I do try to look at EVERYTHING and not just any single area, so I will judge the entire presentation and decide based on all factors I find meaningful.

For example.. Even if your grammar and syntax and punctuation isn't perfect but you post something that is just truly inspiring or meaningful or educational.. I will tend to overlook those other things because I value the whole package and will not get hung up on typos and things like that if you do a really good job elsewhere.

I will not pander to anyone and vote for them just because I like them or if they try to be friendly or bribe me in some manner, I am serious when it comes to picking the entry that I think did the best job of fulfilling the quest.

I think that about covers it and I hope that helps. :) Good luck in the competition Information Finders!
There's a spot waiting for you in the hall of fame if you can reach it!

There's a lil bit of reading to go through the rules and all that, but a lot of people had a lot of fun last time and I think it may be worth your while if you end up trying it out. :)

I hope you give it a try and would be happy to see you there! Thanks for considering it either way! :D

Cool beans. I like the topic for the first week, so once things settle over at #powerhousecreatives I'll get to work on an entry.

Glad you liked the first topic! :) I really liked your entry as well! Especially as a photographer myself, it really made my imagination soar. :D Thanks for participating!

Awww, shucks. Thanks! :-D
