Steem Basic Income Giveaway (Dream Destination...)

in #contest5 years ago

Well... let's start by saying I'm a complete dufus for forgetting to get around to the replies and the upvotes for the last SBI Giveaway (Cringe...). Thus, the bounty just didn't work... so, as compensation... everyone who made a valid entry last week gets a SBI share! However, drop round to the last SBI Giveaway... there were some truly hilarious replies!

So, this week is vacation week for us... and it has me thinking about Dream Destinations! About places that we would love to go to if money was no object.. we all have that special place that is on our bucket list to visit... but just haven't had the time or the resources yet!

My Question

  1. What is the place or thing that you would most dearly love to see or visit? Why?

My sample answer

Unsplash

The place (on Earth...) that I would most love to be would be the Northern parts of Europe (or Russia or Canada...) in the mid-winter. Now, I'm not a fan of the freezing cold... in fact, I would likely freeze to death if I wasn't looked after!... but the fact is that this would be the only place for me to see the Aurora... which is something that I've longed dreamed to see!

I mean, just look at that photo! And then just think of the physics behind the amazingly beautiful display of colours, patterns and lights! It's such a visible and stunning display of the laws of nature and particle physics! The ultimate melding of art and science!

Luckily, the Northern Reaches of Europe are not that far away... so, soon! One year, I will subject my family to the eternal nights of the North!

Rules

  1. Upvote is not required, but appreciated!
  2. Resteem is NOT necessary!
  3. In the comments, answer as best as you can the questions that are posed in the "My Questions"!
  4. I have added a small Steem-Bounty to the post, so that everyone who replies with a valid entry will get something back. If I give your post a small upvote, it is valid (also, subscribe to @dustsweeper for maximum benefit!).
  5. I will be sponsoring as many people as this post pays out in liquid SBD/STEEM. Also I will kick in at least the required amount to round up to the full number. Winner is by random generator after a shortlisting of quality comments!
  6. PLEASE PLEASE Don’t upvote your OWN comment. I can’t stop you doing it, but it seems to mess up the distribution of the Bounty for everyone else. If you upvote your own comment, I will consider it an invalid entry when doing the draw.

Steem Basic Income

One of the first communities that I came in contact with at the beginning of my time at Steemit was @steembasicincome. As a author starting out on your fresh new Steemit account, Steemit can be a daunting and lonely place to be. OFten, it can feel like you are posting into an abyss with no one listening and with no ability to grow out of the situation. A share of Steem Basic Income gives you a guaranteed vote on one post a day, thus giving you a small but over time cumulative support to your account to help grow you out of your initial wilderness!

With this post, I want to help sponsor people who might not even have the spare 1 STEEM that is required for registration. So, when this post pays out, I will sponsor people depending on the payout of this post. Basically, I will round up the SBD payout from this post and then that will be the number of people I will sponsor. (So, if the payout is 2.3 SBD, I will sponsor 3 people). OF course, this is not simply an altruistic move, as the sponsor of a Steem Basic Income share also gets a share, so it is a great way to help others whilst helping yourself!

Last week's winners

The last post paid out 0.554 SBD and 0 STEEM in liquid earnings. So, that would make 2 shares.

The winners by random draw are:

Everyone who made a valid entry... because I'm a dufus!

So, Congratulations to:

@rawbirdtoe
@simplymike
@missteriously87
@steemstreems
@stever82
@sfcq240788
@improv

I would love to visit New Zealand. In particular some of the locations where the Lord of the Rings and Wolverine were filmed.

There's an outside chance my wife may be required to visit Un Zud for work later this year, so if she does we'll make a bit of a holiday of the trip I think. Fingers crossed.

Weirdly enough, I've also never visited New Zealand! It is so close to Australia as well... Perhaps one time, we will include it on a family trip back to the homeland, but for now it is a touch far! However, it does look like a beautiful place and the white wine is pretty good too!

Same. My only trip overseas was a 2 month work sojourn to Mumbai which was fantastic

I would love to visit the Lego factory in Billund and do the official tour. I think it would be pretty special to set foot in a factory that helped occupy many of my childhood (and still plenty of adulthood) hours.

I had no idea that was the home of LEGO. That would be a pretty special place to visit!

It would be amazing. I've seen a couple of documentaries but I don't think it would compare to doing a tour of the place.

@bengy my dream place is one big place and lots of other places, besides: I want to do a circumnavigation of the Mediterranean. Start at the Bosphorous or Gibraltar and back. Don't want to go to the touristy places, but little villages and backstreet places and experience the food. I love Mediterranean food - all of it. #justsaying!

Mediterranean food is really the best! The North African stuff is supposed to be quite phenomonal! Also the Israeli... well, Greece, Italy, France and Spain are already known... but I did visit Turkey once... That is really really good food!

Ah! I am so glad you get it. There is a great Turkish restaurant in Cape Town. The food is amazing. And thank you for the share of bounty 🥂

There are many places but first of all I want to show Brazil to my family.

Posted using Partiko Android

Definitely a good idea... However for a valid entry, which place would you want to show? And why?

Of course in my list Foz de Iguazu, Corcovadu, Rio de Janeiro, Compina de Misus and Portu Alegree and I think Fortaleza and Curitiba. Rio coz it's side seeing places. Fortaleza Curitiba coz it's beatcs and to relax there))

Thanks! It's a valid entry!

There are still so many places I'd like to see! But just coming through another ugly midwest winter, I'll say one of my warm destination desires:

Maui, Hawaii

We stopped there on our honeymoon cruise, but I always wanted to go back and spend much more time there!

Oh, and thank you for the SBI from last week's contest!

My pleasure!

Hawaii sounds like a paradise! Great weather, nice beaches and superb Japanese food! For some reason, I have it in my head that the Midwest of America is mostly hot and desert.

Well I took a tour of Europe when I graduated college and thanks to the US Army I've seen Iraq and Afghanistan, but I haven't seen much of is my own country's natural wonders. I'd like to see the Grand Canyon and take the mule train trek to the bottom.

Ha! I hiked all the way to the river and back on foot! It was awesome, but I don't think I will repeat that performance ever again!! It was way harder than it seemed and I was in shape then!

I would love to return though, it will probably be by mule train!

Wow, you've been around the world! I've not seen the Middle East at all (apart from airports...), but I gather you didn't really see the best parts of it...

Grand Canyon sounds like a great place to visit though. I don't know much about it, but from what I see it is quite a great looking trek if you are up for it!

Great question @bengy. When I have some energy tomorrow I’ll create my answer! Does it have to be a location where you have never been? Because on top of my list is a return to destination😇

Posted using Partiko iOS

It doesn't matter!

Cool! Than my dream destination is still Iceland. I've already created a post last year with the same subject actually. And not returned to Iceland yet so I can still say that this is my dream destination.

What is the place or thing that you would most dearly love to see or visit? Why?

During my surftrip and first visit to Iceland, we had a wonderfull time together. Started a story together with my friends that wasn't written before. Since I've been there I know what Iceland does with other people and is still doing by me. I think people like @saunter can confirm this feeling?

Iceland did show a lot of it's beauty to me, but it didn’t show me everything... Things like the northern-lights (like yourself @bengy I'm still wondering how it would be to see those magical lights lighting the sky) or some spectacular falls like Dynjandi. But I do get it know. Really, I do understand! The time wasn’t there yet for us. Oh Iceland we had an encounter that leaves us wanting more. Your tempting. Oh Iceland we shake hands for sure in the future, maybe even a heartwarming cuddle.

Iceland, we’ll meet again soon! 😍 (hopefully this year, my travelplans are a bit uncertain at the moment)

I think people like @saunter can confirm this feeling?

I confirm this fully!!!

Iceland! I really should have visited when their economy crashed... But I hear it is really quite an amazingly beautiful place. Also on my list to visit... And like you said, maybe also could tie in with the Northern Lights!

First of all, thank you for chooaing me as one of the winner last time @bengy!

Secondly, the place that I want ti visit the most is Mount Kinabalu. It is the tallest mountain in my country. In fact, it is situated in my hometown, Sabah.
So the top list place I wanted to visit is there. I want to arrive at the top and take a selfie, just like any other tourists.
I have only seen them from a far. But one day, I shall conquer it.

Posted using Partiko Android

No worries, my pleasure!

Wow... that looks like a pretty tall mountain there! Would be really interesting to take a few days and just trek to it and take your time to admire the scenery!

Its slightly more than 4km from sea level. You can hike and reach top in a day, but usually they stop midway and continue early morning to see the sunrise!

I can't really say why, but ever since I was a kid, I have been dreaming of visiting Machu Picchu.
When I got older, I started to realize that if I would ever find a way to get there, it would be completely different from what I had in mind. After all, the place is crowded with tourists all the time. So I decided I had to let it go... it would only be a disappointment.
Until a friend of mine told me - not so long ago - about a way to visit it, without having to be bothered by the crowd. Ever since, it's at the top of my list again.
I have loads of friends travelling to Thailand and India, and they all tell me that I should go there, but I simply don't feel attracted to those countries. If I'm ever going to get a chance to travel to the other side of the globe, Machu Picchu it will be.

Weird... I'm intrigued... how do you visit it whilst avoiding the crowds? I guess the off-season would be the way... or is there a secret entrance?

Thailand I think I would like... India, perhaps not so much! On the other hand, I have no idea!

While I was living in London I used to make walks through the parks as often as I could. They ar wonderful places easy to fall in love. It's a pity not to have great parks around.

I don't know that many parks in London... but I've not really looked! Everytime I'm there, I seem to only be in the busy built up areas...

I would dearly love to travel beyond the Earth's gravity well. The moon, would be nice, sure, and Mars even neater, but I'd love to set out on a journey of generations, to live forever and visit distant civilizations built by creatures from across the galaxy.

Posted using Partiko Android

In my mind, I would love to leave Earth and explore... But in real life, I think I would be throwing up all the way!

I always dreamed that one day I'll visit the beautiful landscapes in Japan (and Asia in general). I find them absolutely astonishing and breathtaking. It's definitely a way to forget for a moment all the troubles and problems and put my thoughts together.
I'm attaching some images from google, so that anybody can see what I'm talking about.

I used the images in a post I wrote some time ago.

Japan is a very nice place! I've only ever been to the larger cities for work, but the pictures of the countryside looks amazing! Plus, the food is pretty good, even the lunch boxes you can buy for the train ride!

What is the place or thing that you would most dearly love to see or visit? Why?

Is an exotic alien world a valid reply xD? No? Fine... I would love to go to Thailand, I've seen countless hours of Thailand youtube videos, whole nights just going through youtube and devouring Thailand videos, it's a wonderful place, at least it looks like one in the clips... the landscape, the beaches, the nightlife, huge discos, lots of life and parties, it looks amazing and the daylife is great too, thai people look incredibly happy and open to foreigners and their whole culture is very accepting, if I ever get enough to live comfortably I might very well go to Thailand for a few months-years and, if I enjoy it there, retire in Thailand... drinking Martinis and Caipirinhas on the beach! I'll save a Martini for you :D

BONUS: Thai girls are very very cute :)

Of course an alien world would be possible! However, given we don't know of any inhabited ones at the moment, it might be a bit of a rough stay! Thailand definitely sounds like a paradise the way you describe it!

Love this one Bengydude

Easter island, remote, super difficult to reach and you have to stay a week at minimum because of the available amount of flights. Super expensive as well to get there, but hey....it doesnt matter to the question right

These heads are something that we still havent wrapped out heads around how they got there and how they are made...so yeah... I wanna see for myself!

Lol, bengydude?

Those statues are really iconic! They would be pretty amazing to see, although I don't know so much about what else is on the island! Probably lots of interesting walks and hikes?

Thank you @bengy for choosing me as one of the winners.... yephey!

Anyway the place where I really loved to go and visit is the place, Iceland. Yes we are in the same place. Aurora Borealis or we can call it the Northern Lights inspires me how nature collide to make great things to attract people to appreciates beauty and nature. Iceland has many things to offer aside from the romantic view of northern lights. There are parts that has an active volcano that has been covered with ice but it is open for the public using mobile ice vehicle or some call it motor ice for rent only available for the person who has a driver liscence but if you 're not basically they have crews that will accompanied you until to the top of the volcano's crater. So it gives me thrills and exciting. Plus the thermal water or ice, water, heat and gaseous put in one makes the water splash upward but caution... Don't touch the water coz you will get burned and die. The heat of the water has the capability to killed a person so you must have been more careful and aware.

You are the second to suggest Iceland! I think I would have to look into this as there are also the Northern Lights! I hear so many good things about the island, maybe I can try to get a concert there...

You won't regret it but if you do if you don't visit it. I am sure they do love it too to have a concert plus bring your family as well. Happy vacation...

I would love to visit Emirates stadium, Arsenal fc in London, England to see some of our players live on the field of football against Manchester United fc. How I wish someone can just sponsor me now

Sounds like a trip to football heaven! I'm not really into football, so I don't know much about it... But even I have heard of Arsenel and Manchester and their rivalry!

Oh man, I have to pick just one?

The Great Pyramids.
Stonehenge.
Easter Island.
Ireland (to kiss the Blarney Stone).
Yellowstone, again.

Let’s go with... Italy.
To travel the waterways of Venice.

Haha! Just the big important stuff then? Waterways of Venice might be a good choice! Who knows how much longer they will be around for...

It looks like it's coming. Pretty sad too. Can't imagine if they had to pave roads through there.

The one place I dream of visiting and will one day is Ireland....I also would love to go to England, but Ireland is first in my heart. I have always loved Ireland's culture and especially the music. I may be Asian...and proud of it, but somewhere deep down or maybe in a past life I'm Irish....at least at heart ;)

I truly do love the culture, Irish accent, and the country itself. I listen to all the old Irish folk songs almost everyday with dreams of traveling over to the emerald isle. There are so many places I want to explore in Ireland, but the one place that still remains at #1 is the Cliffs of Moher in County Clare, Ireland.

I'll never forget the first time I saw a picture of these majestic cliffs, I was in awe of the vastness and beauty of God's creation. It was truly mesmerizing. That was the day that I decided that I will be there one day in the near future and I will be enjoying every moment. I will stand there and soak it all in while I sing "The Wild Rover" or "Black Velvet Band", lol.

Thank you, @bengy for the great question :)

I went to Ireland for the first time last year! Just to a smaller town... but the people were so nice and the atmosphere was really lovely! A touch rainy though.. but very very much worth visiting! The food and beer/ale were also quite good!

Hi bengy,
I want to travel Norway, to see places and take pictures like the one below. Even though I prefer summertime, it would also be charming in wintertime. I have seen northern lights out of the cockpit a few times, never as clear and impressive like on your picture. In some occasion it even took me a bit to figure out at what I am looking at.
Anyway, may we all see our places, sooner or later!
All the best and have fun!

You are a flyer? Wow, you could just fly yourself to anywhere you want! Norway is supposed to be pretty stunning... fjords and all of that untouched wilderness in the far north! Definitely would be a great place to visit!

I didn't realise they had those islands up there!

I would really like to go to Rome previously but I notice that I haven't even got a tour in my own country. There I would like to visit Malaysia first starting with Sabah my own state. I have been admiring beautiful scenery from other country that I forgot my own country has it own beauty that I haven't explore yet. So I most dearly want to visit my own country first if there is extra money other than for responsibility.

Rome is really nice... lots of culture and old history.. but also lots of tourists! Don't go in the summer... it's also too hot!

Malaysia sound really lovely! I think we all do that... we want to visit other places so much that we forget how much our own country has to offer!

Thanks for the guide. I will remember that. I hope when you come to Malaysia, you'll have the most wonderful travel.
