Get your WITNESS VOTES in for a chance to WIN SBD!

in #contest6 years ago (edited)

Too many people are using Steemit without voting for witnesses. This contest is my attempt to change that. Read on to find out how you can participate and get a chance to win some SBD!

DISCLAIMER: No one put me up to this. I am not a witness. I am friends with quite a few, but you don’t have to vote for the same ones I do in order to be eligible to win. This is simply my personal initiative to get more people voting for witnesses.

Barack Obama has a point here. This platform isn’t perfect, but I love it. And we have a voice. Get your votes in, participate in witness chats, and make your voice heard!

Why vote?

Steem doesn’t exist without witnesses. They keep the blockchain alive and the top 20 witnesses are the ones who make decisions about changes.

If you are using Steemit, if you are investing in Steem in any way, you need to be voting for witnesses. If you don’t know anything about witnesses, read this post by @drakos to learn more. (This link is past payout, so don't upvote it, but some excellent info in there.)

Also, @rhondak recently posted a fantastic article titled Witness Voting Oversimplified. (Feel free to upvote this one if it's within the 7 day payout by the time you read it. She did a great job writing it!)

“How can I win SBD?”

This is what you really want to know. I get it.

But what I want is to see more people using their witness votes and participating in the workings of the platform. That’s why I’m dangling a prize out to motivate you.

If you are already voting for witnesses, THANK YOU! You’re awesome!

If you’re not voting for witnesses, do your research and get some votes in.

CONTEST GUIDELINES:

1) Upvote and resteem this post. The more this post earns, the more SBD I can give away. I will throw 10 SBD into the pot. Several others have donated, so see the current prize pool below!

2) Vote for witnesses. Research them. Be sure you don’t vote for dead witnesses as that will disqualify you from the contest. You can check witness activity on https://steemian.info/witnesses.

3) Comment on this post and tell me about at least one witness you vote for and why. Thoughtful comments matter. This is how I’ll be choosing winners. 💖

-thealliance_pagebreak.png

GET 'YER BONUS POINTS HERE:

Want an even better chance at winning? Any of the following will help (but are not required).

  • Attend the witness chat on the Steemit Ramble on Saturday, May 19th (details below).
  • Write a post about witnesses (and let me know you did).
  • Help other Steemians learn about witnesses and get them to vote! If you get someone to vote who has never supported witnesses before, I’m going to take that into consideration, so talk to your friends and make sure they’re voting for witnesses.
  • If you have never voted for witnesses before, and do so now because someone helped you learn about the importance of witnesses, please mention their name in your comment!

-thealliance_pagebreak.png

MASSIVE #GRATITUDE to the following people for donating SBD to grow the prize pool!

  • 5 SBD from @saffisara
  • 5 SBD from @idikuci
  • 5 SBD from @dreemsteem, on behalf of @welcomewagon, an initiative to help newbies learn about the platform.
  • 5 SBD and 10 SBD from two separate anonymous witness donors who wish to support this awareness initiative, but want to remain nameless as they are not trying to sway any outcomes.

If you want to donate, I will be updating this list as I can. Thank you to everyone who is supporting this effort to increase awareness around witness voting!

The PRIZE POOL is currently at 40 SBD!

YAY for people learning about witnesses!

Participate in the Witness Chat, Saturday May 19th, 11am EDT

This will be the third witness forum hosted by @shadowspub on the Steemit Ramble Discord server. I learned a ton during the last one, and loved seeing how many witnesses showed up. There was laughter, discussion (sometimes heated), and exceptional participation by witnesses and non-witnesses alike.

In the words of @sircork, “Pay attention to the witnesses who show up.” I know he’ll be en-route to the Nashville Steemit meetup that day, so I don’t know if Corky will be able to attend the witness chat, but it’s worth taking note what witnesses attend. It also gives you a direct way to hear what they’re about, and ask questions if you have them.

-thealliance_pagebreak.png

Who I vote for, and why.

Below you’ll find some of the witnesses I vote for (in no particular order), and my reasons why. I’m not going to name all of them, ‘cause you can go to steemd.com/@katrina-ariel and look up my full list of votes if you want, but I believe in strongly in the ones I’m highlighting here. These are suggestions you might take into consideration if you don’t know who to vote for and are looking for good people to support, but please do your own research.

Reminder: you are not required to vote for the same witnesses as me in order to be eligible to be rewarded. I just want to see that you’re making informed decisions and participating. It’s up to you to prove this in your comment.

Here are some people who I think are doing good things for the platform:

@enginewitty

This guy is a personal friend. I trust him. Our kids are buddies. But the reason I vote for him as witness is because he is invested in the success of Steem and genuinely cares about people. He runs a witness server, actively builds Steemit communities including @thealliance, supports charities, and delegates to initiatives like the @welcomewagon. He adds quality content to the platform and is generously supportive in countless ways.

@drakos

Another witness who shows up with integrity and generosity, Drakos runs steemian.info, supports @the-resistance, delegates to @youarehope, and engages with me and others who are adding quality content to the Steemisphere.

@steemcommunity

This team of @abh12345 and @paulag is focused on, you guessed it: community. Truly, without community, Steemit isn’t worth much. Asher constantly impresses me with his focus on engagement, and particularly supporting newbies to the platform, as evidenced in his recent welcome to Steemit competition.

@sircork

This witness team is comprised of @sircork, who is the founder of @youarehope (a Steem-based charity helping people in impoverished situations) and the mastermind behind the @steemstarnetwork, and @rhondak, who is a co-founder of @thewritersblock, and also runs the animal shelter @tarc. They both work tirelessly to add value to Steemit and various communities on discord. They’re smart, funny, and outspoken, albeit in different ways. I’ll also be meeting them at the Nashville Steemit meetup next weekend, which I’m excited about!

@patrice

Patrice fights a necessary and worthy battle against spam and plagiarism on Steemit. Tune into her Trash Talk shows on the SteemStarNetwork to find out what’s new with her and her team. I find her easy to approach, and value her take on what’s happening on the platform.

@curie

This witness represents a group of curators who look for outstanding content on Steemit. They especially focus on rewarding newcomers to the platform. I’ve been fortunate enough to have several posts “Curied,” and can honestly say this helped me have confidence in Steemit. Curie is one of the reasons I’m still here.

@ocd-witness

Another curation guild, OCD looks for worthy posts to reward and resteem, bringing them more exposure. @gmuxx wrote a great post if you’re interested in the curation process.

@followbtcnews

Jeff and @crimsonclad run this server, which is in the top 20. Crimsonclad is super fun, supportive, and helpful—present in lord-knows how many discord servers. Here’s their latest witness update.

@guiltyparties

This witness is part of #thealliance and #steemsilvergold and supports veterans on Steemit. He’s active in building community and keeping the platform safe from phishing, as well as working with Steemcleaners. Check out his latest witness update.

@thekitchenfairy

Another member of #thealliance, she’s a friend and has just gotten her witness server up. Happy to see another woman running a witness.

@jatinhota

A core member of #thealliance, this witness is a founding member of @indiaunited, and is always there to help a friend.

@pharesim

This witness is active on the platform, supporting content creators and acting from a place of integrity.

@jackmiller

This witness is approachable and interacts with community. I like this line from his latest post on networking: “One of the things that I consider a responsibility as a Steemian is to look for what people have in common. What can help unite us as people.” YES, Jack! Yes.

@anarcho-andrei

I’ll be meeting Andrei in person at the Nashville Meetup next weekend. He’s also one hell of a writer, and on my #steemwars crew in @thewritersblock.

@timcliff

This heavy-hitter has a reputation for being helpful and genuine. He showed up to the last Steemit Ramble witness chat, and I appreciated hearing his views. Hope he attends again so I can learn more from him.

-thealliance_pagebreak.png

All of these witnesses do more than what I’ve highlighted here, and I still have much to discover about them and their role as the keepers of the blockchain. However, I hope this list gives you ideas of people to vote for, or at least ideas of what to look for as you do your own research. My votes are constantly changing as I learn more.

Yes, I vote for a number of friends. Why wouldn’t I? They’re keeping the platform alive, I know they’re good people, and I hope they’ll make it high enough up in the witness ranks to actually earn some money to feed their family. I do make sure to vote for developers/coders as well as social witnesses.

Take note, every witness has invested a good amount of time and funds to get their server running and keep it that way. The top 20 witnesses are also the ones who make most of the money. If someone you believe in is a witness and not in the top 20, they need your vote to move up the ranks!

-thealliance_pagebreak.png

Get Voting!

Go here to vote for witnesses: https://steemit.com/~witnesses

You’ll need your active key to vote for witnesses. When you’re finished voting, log out and log back in with your posting key. All of this might sound complicated the first time (it did to me), but it gets easy after a while. ;)

To vote for someone who isn’t in the top 50, you simply write their Steemit username in the box (without the @ symbol).

-thealliance_pagebreak.png

Spread the word and comment below for your chance to win SBD!

Resteem this, write a post, tell your friends… Get involved.

I don’t have a current statistic on how many people vote for witnesses, but the percentage of people who vote vs. those who use the platform is embarrassingly low, considering the fact that this blockchain does not exist without witnesses.

I’ll be awarding prizes after this post pays out, and after seeing who shows at the witness chat on the Steemit Ramble. I’ll also be travelling next week, so if it takes me longer to go through the comments, so be it. One way or another, I’ll choose some winners, send some SBD, and make a post about it as soon as I’m able.

I know this has been a long post, but it’s important. Thank you for reading, thank you for being here, and thank you for participating as we co-create this Steemiverse.

Peace. @katrina-ariel

Yes, I love @enginewitty. This gif ^^ is at the bottom of all my posts. Once again, you don't have to vote for him or any of my witnesses in order to win, but I am also free to show my bias in my footer. ;) Good luck! I can't wait to read your comment!

was about to upvote this one, but since @fyrst-witness was not even mentioned, I will just drop it for this time.

mentioned or not, doesn't matter, it matters that the witness thing was mentioned :-)
still, there's very small number of people that knows that witnesses exists
(and that being a witness has nothing to do with voting on posts)

Good job @katrina-ariel! :-)

Thank you, Gandalf the Grey! 💖

Y'all, if you don't know, @gtg is a witness. I vote for him, and this kind of comment solidifies my vote. He might not have been mentioned above, like a lot of other witnesses, but the point of this post was to encourage you to go out and make your own decisions. While you're at it, be sure to check him out!

Spoken like a man and not the selfish colleague.

WTF? Get back in here and throw %100 on this post. At least pretend you have a social conscience. @katrina-ariel is doing good for steemit. What have you ever done, you petulant little turd?

Trust me, I'm a doctor.

Catweasel-c.png

Considering you upvoted your own comment, that's pretty much a dick move. Remind me again why he doesn't have my vote for his witness?

Perhaps the lack of mention was due to lack of awareness of what the Witness is involved in at present?

@booster is a good clue for starters...

I came to this post in my half-hearted attempt to make sense of the witnessing thing for about the 4th time in a year. I jumped to the comments first and just look what I see at the top. Dang!

This one comment from our boosting friend puts this issue off my list and onto the back burner again. I'm not even going to read the post. And I sure know one witness not to vote for now if I ever get to it again.

But I just found out recently there are 100's of witnesses! - hidden some where - you have to know about them. Figure it out little minnow! Your vote is important LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL.

Holy Moly - the top of steemit is such a worry to me. 100 rich people fighting it out in 47 different battles - incomprehensible to the rest of us. ! I must be nuts but I'm still here.

Back to my posting, and no more useless distractions I hope.

Here is the list of us all: https://steemian.info/witnesses

We are number 97 ( @steemcommunity ) Feel free to proxy your vote through me to save research and selection, if you trust that my intentions are good :)

You can do that at the bottom of this page: https://steemit.com/~witnesses

And you will need your active key to make any choices stick - individual selections or a proxy.

Cheers!

Yes. There's a lot I don't know. I'm learning. And I mostly highlighted people in this post who I've had personal interaction with. Didn't intend to snub anyone, only to increase the awareness around witness voting in general.

Yes, and the fact that said witness has decided that supporting high quality content creators from The Writers' Block doesn't qualify as the kind of creative projects Booster is willing to get behind. . .just sayin.

Aw, that's too bad. It's pretty easy to edit, you know. I'd probably throw you a vote if I saw some goodwill being shared, but sometimes it's nice to see support from a witness BEFORE I cast my witness vote. Curie earned my loyalty this way, and because of their dedication to supporting quality content. I would think, given @fyrst-witness's interest in wanting people to vote for witnesses, that he would get behind this initiative.

Vote for me I will be online next month.

Really? A $21 self vote for your crap comment. You are part of the problem, @booster...

Yeah right !! Iam like WTF. Doesn 't make a lick of sense to me why people would do that

I makes sense only if the person is of bad character. Taking that into account, his adolescent reason for not upvoting the post is shallow arrogance and the reason for commenting was simply to steal from the awards pool for monetary gain.

This huge flaw in Steemit is why I will no longer support the platform.

The protocol was designed so Ned could become rich. He is a fake and Steemit will fail. It is certainly not the Bitcoin of Social Media, it's a mirror of the failed real world of Western Politics, which is a Centralized Oligarchy.

You know what, @notconvinced, I don't appreciate that kind of negativity on this post. You're free to say what you want, of course, but I'm trying to make Steemit a better place, and you're here shitting on the whole idea of it. There are good people here, having fun, being themselves. No, it isn't perfect, but it's also very new. Witnesses are the ones helping drive this ship. It can be changed. If you don't like it, leave, or do something to improve the platform instead of bitching about it.

Yes, I think @fyrst-witness could've made himself look good and shot this post to the trending page. Whatever. All I know is what I'm about, and I'm going to continue to work hard to make this platform a better place. If you're not going to do the same, please go elsewhere.

Well said, i knew i liked you. You ever decide to run for witness...

So if another's truth doesn't match yours it's negative? Sounds quite fake to me.

People need to understand the opposing view to know what fixes are needed. Your shallow view will fix nothing.

I will choose to stay or leave at MY will. Peace out!

Yes, people need to see opposing views. I'm not against you pointing out what needs to be fixed. What I don't get is you badmouthing the platform in general, when you're here. You don't support Steemit, but you're here. Doesn't make sense to me. But you do you. Peace.

Thanks for doing this @katrina-ariel .
I will like to also make myself known. I run the witness called yensesa. A few of the ways we are helping the Steem community is:

  • Launching the first Steem/SBD to fiat exchange for the African Community. This makes it easy for us to exchange our Steem to fiat using the existing mobile money infrastructure. Most people lose a lot of money trying to convert Steem to other crytos and moving it through multiple trading platforms before they are able to cash out. (https://yensesa.com)

  • Yensesa Basic Income : This project is to help at least about 60% of Africans that are on Steem to be able to get $5 upvote per day to support themselves. This is $150 per month which is a good basic income for someone joining Steem and working hard with quality content. This also gives us the power to be able to say NO to corrupt governments. Because with a basic income we can at least live on that.

I will be happy if you can add @yensesa to the list of witnesses in the post above.

Your 2nd project sounds very interesting, good luck!

You have my vote. I'm in for a good cause. I will be following your cause and see how it develops.

Thanks @enforcer48, glad you voted for us.

@yenesa i like what your project is all about especially in the aspect of helping steemians earn $5 worth of upvote daily. That's pretty awesome....
I'd like to know more about it

Thanks @funshel, you may join us on discord https://discord.gg/3v2A4An

This is really great.....Are you the guys in Ghana? I think I heard about your project in passing. Would check out your blog in a bit. Cheers

Yes we are in Ghana

Thank you for letting us know what you're about, @yensesa! I've listed only witnesses with whom I've had personal interaction, but your comment here has added value to this post, and others will see it! :)

Thank you for making the post that sparked this great conversation. We hope eventually you will have experience with us as our programs grow to support the community at large.

Phew, finally found some time to update my voting list.

I have my votes mainly for people that are trying to build communities and quality content, or at the other end, removing the trash that can accumulate.

I guess many people have talked about the content supporters, so I would like to talk about the people that try and keep the ecosystem tidy. @anyx and @patrice have the annoying but essential job of taking out the trash from Steemit. It must be horrible to have to deal with the bottom of the pool, but without someone doing it, it would be much harder for genuine content to come to the surface. I really appreciate the effort they do in reducing the amount of trash there is in our beautiful ocean!

@themarkymark is another witness that I want to highlight. For quite some time, I was only using his bots, as he appeared to have an ethical take on a tricky situation (should upvote bots be part of this ecosystem). Well, the question is a bit moot, since they are part of our ecosystem, so the best thing you can do is to at least make the bot service decent quality and not trash and spam. I believe he has done this, via blacklists and spending his own time and effort to personally vet content.

@yabapmatt is another witness that I respect. Again, if you have this bot situation, at least it can be transparent for those of us that can't delve into the Steem chain so easily. With Steembottracker, he has given us the tools to use the bots in a transparent way. Also, other tools like delegation are made quite easy to use on his site.

I'm not going to mention any more, but I respect the witnesses that I have voted for, and I believe they do have the best interests of the ecosystem in their minds. I am looking forward to them leading us to the future of Steem!

EDIT. Whilst reading the comments, I added @gtg.

Thanks for this post. I had written a post about learning more about witness voting and @pathtosuccess shared this link with me. It was in response to this article.

https://steemit.com/witness-category/@realestatecoach/seeking-suggestions-on-witness-voting

Upvoted and resteemed. Now researching your suggestions.

submitted a witness vote for @patrice. I like the fact she is focused on cutting down spam and I enjoyed her post about her new home. Yes, posts in my niche get my attention. :)

Thank you for your comment(s), for sharing your post and that @pathtosuccess helped you find this one! For the record, self-voting your own comments is generally not a great practice, as it looks like you're just trying to reward yourself rather than interact with others. I'm not sure if you know that, so I'll overlook it for now. I would rather see you upvote other people's comments, personally. Anyway, you are entered in the contest. Keep researching witnesses and adding to your votes. Feel free to come back and tell me about any others who inspire you!

i was already voting for some of these witness but thanks to this posts i just voted for @pharesim @patrice @enginewitty @curie @followbtcnews @fyrst-witness .

See? That is why this post is so good! Excelent idea @katrina-ariel

i was thinking on doing something similar but with the spanish community!

Thank you for your comment! So glad you like the idea. I'd be happy to support if you do something similar for the Spanish community, so please let me know if you do!

nice: love your mission and education! @steemcommunity!! @timcliff! @dragosroua! @yabapmatt! @curie! ... some of my favs... not throwing my hat in for the contest per say, but just wanted to highlight these ones for influence's sake :D!

I like the shout out for witnesses you can get behind. Thanks for your comment!

100% upvote lady. YES. so much yes!!!!

I'll toss in 5 SBD to the pot too :) I love getting to know witnesses and adding them to my list!

THANK YOU for doing this! and i love all your bonus points in there. hehehehe fabulous idea.

I'll be resteeming this for the welcome wagon tonight!!!!

oh and by the way - i do NOT want to be entered into the contest hahahaha.

Thank you for your donation and humble support! 💖

💖💖💖💖

One of the witnesses I voted for is @sircork. I supported him before he became a Witness team.

The man himself makes a lot of sense when talking about topics that involves the growth of the Steem blockchain, not just Steemit.

@rhondak is a great example of activism and the hand of diplomacy in the team witness effort as she reaches out to connect with those who are crucial for change.

Thank you for participating!

Thank you for the mention, @enforcer48 . I do think we need change in a few areas, and I'll keep chipping away until we see it! :-)

Great initiative. 5 SBD into the Pot.

Thank you very much for your donation!

I voted for utopian-io, because what they do ensures open source apps do not remain stagnant, but they encourage the community to effect changes where necessary, leading to a better experience in general. There are many great witnesses out there of course!

Edit: After getting to read a post by @paulag, and finding out she's the one half of @steemcommunity, along with Asher-who I just got to know via his competition, I've voted for them.

Also voted for @curie, for the wonderful job they are doing for the community, even though I am yet to benefit from them. lol

And after going through the comments section, I have also cast a vote for @yensesa

Thank you for your comment!

You are welcome. Thanks too.

Thank you for providing a link to vote witnesses. I need it and here I have for about ten witnesses I have encountered on steemit platform.
CURIE and team of curiators have been an encouragement to me.

AGGROED is a minnows supporter on minnowsupport project.

Thank you once again and blessings.

Thank you for your comment. @aggroed played my music on his show last night, which was pretty cool and unexpected. Got my vote. I want to learn more about him, just as I need to know more about so many witnesses on this platform. Glad you're adding some votes to your witness list!

Of course you love @enginewitty. Who wouldn't?

I asked @thekitchenfairy who she loved more, Mr Witty or me. Quick as a flash she replied "My husband." If she can't even lie to get a vote she deserves to be a witness.

I think I should do a post on witnesses in the not too distant future. Feel free to prod me between naps if you don't see it soon.

Trust me, I'm a doctor.

Catweasel-c.png

🤣🤣🤣🤣

Oh doctor, you're a tease!!!

I did like the questionares before earning your vote

That answer clinched it. The answer and the speed with which you gave it.

Trust me, I'm a doctor.

Catweasel-c.png

I would love to see you do a post on witnesses! And I love @thekitchenfairy's answer to your question. Smart woman. ;)

You totally should. I'll pay money to read that one😎🤣

As Steemit is so big, it's hard to look at the witness as soon as you arrive, but as you comment it is a fundamental part of the Steem platform.
I have started to vote for the witness after reading a post similar to yours.
I'm voting... (among others):

I remains 14 votes.
What other witness can I vote for his work? .. and why?

Regards.

Thank you for your comment. It is up to you what other witnesses to vote for, though I've listed some good ones above. Let me know if you add any more witnesses, based on your research. :)

You can check:
@ anyx and @ patrice - they run Steemcleaners, Spaminators, Cheetah
@ curie, @ ocd-witness and @ steemcommunity - they are supporting a quality content authors, good commenters and manual curators

Loading...

This is a truly stellar idea, @katrina-ariel. Kudos to you for doing this. THANK YOU

So glad you like it, Rhonda. I just hope it gets people voting for witnesses and raises awareness around the importance of doing your research and casting your own votes.

So I just went to check my witness votes and realized I had to add a few. Two added just now and thinking about another later.

Cough cough

Apparently I don't know how to spell lol. I had added you once before I swear 🤣

I have superpower cough apparently 🤣😉❤🤣😉

Thanks Shippie!

Nice! Always good to take a look at your witness list from time to time. ;)

Hi @katrina-ariel !
Thank you for sharing us the important role of Witnesses on Steemit. I as a newbie on this cutting edge social media am still trying to understand many things that I didn't familiar with, including "The witnesses role" . So, this post of yours has greatly explained me in detail the role of Witnesses.

After conducting a small research right after reading your interesting post, I just realized that this cool platform is lack of female witnesses, most of them are male, we can say the ratio between men and women are approximately 10:3, this is not fair at all. I think woman should take a further role in here.

Moreover, as I am Indonesian, where a large number of Steemit users are coming from ( Again, this also based on my research recently), I think I have to choose someone who is basically came from this country, so most of good contents posted in Bahasa Language can be easily detected by the witness who understand the Bahasa itself.

So one way to overcome this condition (to support women and help the steemit users from Indonesia growing fast) is by choosing someone who is female and it would be great if she is coming from Indonesia.

That's is why, based on this consideration , my preference witness for now goes to @thekitchenfairy. She is exactly deserved to be chosen as a witness. From what I know during my short time blogging on Steemit, she is really active even she is a mother of two little handsome boys.

This is the time for us to give more space for woman to take more roles, so this social media will be grown fast in a balance circumstances.

The last but not least, I thank you again @katrina-ariel, this is a great idea to deliver the message about the important thing of choosing witness by conducting this little fun contest. I already followed, upvoted and resteemed your post.

Soon I will search and decide my 29 other witnesses. Your post just opened up my eyes to choose one at first.

You know that, A little plankton like me is absolutely need to read more and more.😇

Cheers, from Aceh, Indonesia ❤️

Woot woot

Beautifully written

Terimakasih ❤

You are very welcome mba 😇

What a thoughtful comment! Yes, there are far too few female witnesses, and it's always good to find people with whom you share things in common. Good luck on your search for more to vote for, and thank you for your entry!

Thanks for replying @katrina-ariel
Here is my further action on this interesting Contest. I already wrote a post about why we should vote a witness and a reason who to vote for.

https://steemit.com/promo-steem/@fitrianizar/what-is-a-witness-and-why-you-should-vote-for-females-witnesses-from-indonesia-witness-choice-contest

Yay for writing a post about witnesses! :)

Excellent initiative! Get more votes heard! I totally forgot to add @patrice, thanks for reminding me!

I've removed anything bid bot or vote selling related as well, because I would rather see someone push for a better way to do post promotion. But I don't want to pollute this thread with that discussion: it's already taking place elsewhere.

With that said, definite shout out to @steemcommunity combo witness as well. There are also many others in your list that I share as well.

Thanks for your thoughtful comment and participation! Glad you got Patrice on your list. :)

This is an awesome awareness post. Yes, we really need to be helping the witnesses to help take care of our Steemit World. I am so honoured to be part of The Alliance family. I have voted all 5 witnesses related to our family. @enginewitty, @jatinhota, @sircork, @guiltyparties, and @thekitchenfairy.

Also I wanna shoutout to @bitrocker2020 who has been doing his very best to grow Team Malaysia! Without him, Team Malaysia will not be what we are today!

And another witness is @justyy. Although I have never met him before but no doubt he has been doing a lot to grow the Chinese community.

To all Steemians, remember to vote for witnesses. All of us have 30 votes. Give before we take. And give more after we have taken.

I like Justyy too so far myself. He makes useful tools and is a solid contributor from what I have seen. Thank you for your vote!

You are most welcome! 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻

Terimakasih Eliza 😘

Sama-sama!😘😘😘

It seems I was a little ahead of your contest with my recent post about Witness voting (already paid out):-)
https://steemit.com/steemit/@erikaflynn/what-should-you-know-about-witness-voting
In simple words I tried to explain why this is so important for everyone, and told the reasons behind each of my 18 Witness votes. I hope it will be eligible entry to your contest

Absolutely an eligible entry! Thanks for letting me know about this post, and for writing it up in the first place! You're in the running. ;)

This is a great initiative!
I just became aware of importance of voting for witnesses recently so I resteemed this post in hopes more people can get informed and vote.

So far I gave my vote to 5 witnesses and 3 of them are matching with your list, hehe. I will definitely check out more names you mentioned.

Thank you for your comment and the resteem! Please feel free to come back and tell me about a witness you voted for, and why, so I can add you to those eligible for prizes. :)

Thanks for highlighting me 💓

You're most welcome!

Can I talk about witnesses I’ve already voted for, or they need to be new witnesses I vote for today?

You can absolutely talk about witnesses you already vote for. I want to hear your favourites, and why. :)

Nice, thanks

Resteemed lady! We actually vote for a lot of the same peeps. Just so ya know!

Thank you for the resteem! And of course we do... Great minds. ;)

Fun fact:
Anyone that votes for me, gets a daily income, based on their vests.
Payout is every day.

And what is it that you do that makes you stand out from other Witnesses?

If I wanted to get paid for my vest, I could easily vote for @jerrybanfield instead. This is not an attack, this is genuine moment for you to explain yourself to all the other Steemians!

He pays out for witness votes?
That is new, since when does he do that?

Nah, I can delegate to his bot.

That is not a fun fact, that is bribery.

Trust me, I'm a doctor.

Catweasel-c.png

@isnochys,

I think it's a great time to explain @kehrwoche to the Steemians and how you intend to add awareness to the work of @steemcleaners and potentially expand that to other abuse fighters like @steemflagrewards, @flagawhale, etc.

You may also include items about @minibot, @nanobot, etc. if you so wish.

The thing is, I am not good with words:)
I do stuff and don't write so much.
Kehrwoche is just a fun small project anyway, with a tiny amount of vp.
And my bots.. Well, as long as they don't do any harm, mission accomplished
:))

I like where it's going, so you have my vote.

This is a super idea to try and boost witness engagement!

I've made a note of the 'ramble' on Saturday and will try to make it.

Thank you!

So glad you like it! Hope to see you there! :)

Good luck to all those running, may the best Steemian win!

So far there's enough SBD to award 7 Steemians. Care to read the post, talk about your favourite witness, and participate?

Hello @katrina-ariel - Thank you for highlighting the important role of Witnesses on Steemit. As a relatively new plankton, I am still trying to get a handle on all the moving parts that run Steemit. Your post has greatly clarified the role of Witnesses for me.

So, I follwed you, upvoted and resteemed your post. And I pinned the Witness page and started to research and vote for some witnesses.

One witness I voted for is @curie, who as you mentioned do good work in getting under appreciated posters some attention. I visit their page often to see their latest curations, and I read the posts they have chosen. It helps me find some quality posts, and reading these posts and supporting the authors has served to help me improve my own writing and posting, as I get a sense of the quality expected.

I would say my posting has improved significanly in the last weeks, in great part thanks to @curie.

And thank you for striving to make Steemit a better place!

Thank you for this excellent comment! If you add votes as you do your research, feel free to come back and tell me about them and why you've voted. (Not required, I'm simply interested.) There is so much to learn here. Sounds like you're on the right track! :)

This is one awesome idea @katrina-ariel, I am sure many who are not aware about the witnesses will get educated. Wish you all the very best.

Thanks so much, my friend. Your support is appreciated!

Nice work @katrina-ariel .. well laid out and a great idea to encouraging witness awareness and voting.

Thank you! Glad to hear you like it. A decent bit of work went into this post... I only hope it reaches lots of people and gets them to vote for witnesses!

This a good one @katrina-ariel. You've done so well by highlighting those who really deserves voting for.

I think there are a lot more people than those I've highlighted who deserve votes. There are a lot of witnesses out there. Who do you vote for, and why?

You got SNEKKED!
Because we love your post!!

Great post and great plot to get more people to vote for witnesses! It;s so important to use the 30 votes you get here on the platform! Really love this

Wow! Thank you so much, Snekky! I'm honoured that you find this post worth sharing. I hope it will reach many people and encourage them to vote for witnesses. Your help is appreciated!

Yo ya he votado a varios excelentes testigos.

Muchas gracias!

I did vote before for good-karma and i think timcliff or maybe furion dont remember but can we vote more than once ? because i got this message now when I tried to vote again

I think we can't right ? correct me if am wrong please and of course will resteem

You can vote for up to 30 witnesses. If you already vote for them, you do not need to vote again. Consider adding others to your witness votes, but do your research first! :)

sure!
thanks for your quick response.
Appreciate it :)

My Hokule'a!!!

You've created an excellent way to boost and recognize witnesses' work in this great platform. I have already voted for most of the witness you mentioned, so I have no words right now to show up a particular support, but I'm sure my votes have been well given, especially for the witnesses from @thealliance, our fam!

Thank you @katrina-ariel for such great idea, this post has been resteemed so that all my followers get in and give their bit!

Thank you for this wonderful comment and for the resteem! I'd still love to hear you speak about one witness in particular who you support, and why, even if you've already voted for them. Then you'll have an entry in the contest. :)

Well, my Hokule'a...Since you mention it, there's a witness I voted for and that it's not in the list.

I'm talking about @steemgigs. This steemian created a platform where freelancers can show up what they know and offer their services to the community into and out of Steemit. The interesting part is that you can find plenty of services when you need it and the payout is, of course, in Steem or SBD.

As a freelancer, I could post my services twice and you can see that your posts are upvoted and resteemed by @surpassinggoogle (it's fantastic to know how many people can see what you offer to them).

@katrina-ariel This is my answer, sorry for the delay and I hope these words can show how my support to him and his project.

Kisses and hugs!

So here’s mine.

  • @mahdiyari - love steemauto. Use it quite a lot.
  • @vesteem - they support new steemians.
  • @yabapmatt - I believe steembottracker to be a really good tool
  • @steemhq - they give me some upvotes occasionally.

And now, my personal favorite...drumrolls...@yensesa. It’s the first witness coming from Ghana. This gives hope to a lot of Africans, especially Ghanaians that they can also do something valuable to help the community. @yensesa provides a way for us to exchange steem and sbd for fiat directly. There’s no need to change to other cryptos and pay unnecessary fees. Someone who’s not into crypto will be more inclined to join Steemit when they know having access to the money in their account won’t be cumbersome. You don’t have to go through the process of creating an account on an exchange. That’s why I love @yensesa.

@katrina-ariel, that’s my list.

Thank you for your comment. You're entered in the contest! :)

Good to hear, thank you too.

Thank you for lovingly kicking some butt and encouraging others to stand up and vote! Sometimes you need a push from a friend :3

A huge thank you for the shoutout, also. It's never necessary, and always appreciated <3

You're welcome! Happy to give a shout out for awesome people (like yourself). I just hope this gets more people voting. If you feel like sharing it on PAL or with a resteem to let more people know it's happening, that would be fantastic! But, as always, you do you!

Where can I find more info on the nashville steemit meetup?

It's happening on the 19th—this Saturday. Are you local? @thealliance did a post about it, if you want to check it out. Location is secret, so you'll need to look one of us up on Discord if you want to come. :)

Hi first of all thanks for this initiative and opportunity @katrina-aeriel! Some of the witnesses I have voted for include @surpassinggoogle because I've seen the way he's always uplifting minnows. @enginewitty because once after enjoying a short discord discussion, I realised how down to Earth he is while chilling or helping out. Also made me decide to look out for more "underdogs" to add to my witness list. And lucky for me I just found one on this post, @yensesa. I voted for them because as a fellow african what they said strongly resonates with me and for that I am 100% behind them. Would be so dope if the first crypto exchange we got in Rwanda is a steem exchanger. Lol Wish you fortune on your journey @yensesa and you too @katrina-aeriel :)

@ange.nkuru thanks for the vote

Thank you for your comment and for participating here! :)

Congratulations! This post has been upvoted from the communal account, @minnowsupport, by katrina-ariel from the Minnow Support Project. It's a witness project run by aggroed, ausbitbank, teamsteem, theprophet0, someguy123, neoxian, followbtcnews, and netuoso. The goal is to help Steemit grow by supporting Minnows. Please find us at the Peace, Abundance, and Liberty Network (PALnet) Discord Channel. It's a completely public and open space to all members of the Steemit community who voluntarily choose to be there.

If you would like to delegate to the Minnow Support Project you can do so by clicking on the following links: 50SP, 100SP, 250SP, 500SP, 1000SP, 5000SP.
Be sure to leave at least 50SP undelegated on your account.

The problem I have, which I am guessing is most peoples problem, is I don't know much about most of them, and most of the ones I do know something about are not worthy of my vote. Not really sure how this will stop being an ongoing issue unless Steemit someday allows for a pinned area one could refer to and ask questions of the witnesses.

I even had one witness a few weeks ago send me a message in my wallet, but when I went to one of their posts to ask one of the important questions I have they ignored it. Sorry, I can't be bought, especially for steem dust, lol.

@scottcbusines is working on an educational directory on discord with dozens of witness information in one place. Just thought you may want to check it out if you don't know where to begin.

I appreciate the tip. I tried the link but it didn't work. I wish so many didn't do everything on Discord. I get invites all the time, but I don't use apps. I am hopeful once this place is out of beta that it will offer enough features that no one feels the need to use a secondary social platform to manage the first social platform.

with the number of communities and the variety of how they are being utilized on Discord, the features on here will need to be extraordinary to move those communities off there.

I rather expect if you started checking them out, you'd soon discover what I'm talking about. The chat functionality that is the reason to be for Discord would not be easily built into the blockchain.

This is all true. Communities with hundreds or thousands of members, or tiny niches with only a club-full hanging out, are where things get done, and relationships get made. An exchange on comments like this is forgotten five minutes later. But the people we chat with every day, are the ones I'm spending the weekend with now for a meetup starting tomorrow, and definitely the ones I look for and read first.

You can ask questions at the Steemit Ramble discord witness chat next Saturday. And many witnesses publish blog posts, so you can research them if you put some time into it. I agree, it would be helpful if everything was in one place, but it is possible to get an idea of what some of the witnesses are about if you look around. Read their blogs. Engage with them. This is the best way I've found to decide who deserves my vote.

Thanks for weighing in. Probably showing my age and distrust here, but I don't use Discord. I don't trust apps, and something feels off about having to use a second social platform to manage the one I am interested in.

I am thinking this will be how it will come about for me

Engage with them.

Which could be a lengthy process. I think I have found 3 or 4 that have my vote now. Part of the problem is some things are not easily knowable, and I simply don't have time to figure it out. One of the biggies for me is whether they run a profit bot or not. I just can't believe that anyone running one (or sending large delegations for profit to one) has the long term success of the platform in mind.

Fair enough. I'm on discord more than Steemit, some days, but you do you. Engaging can be a lengthy process, for sure. There is probably a list of witnesses who run bots. Will come back and add to this comment if I find it.

As for the upcoming discord chat, watch @shadowspub's blog for the replay. Here's the link to the replay of the first forum she hosted: https://steemit.com/witness/@shadowspub/witness-mark-your-calendars-you-are-invited-along-with-the-community

And here's the link to the replay from last month's chat: https://steemit.com/witness-category/@shadowspub/the-witness-chat-from-saturday-april-21st

Hope that helps! :)

Hope that helps! :)

Very much. Thank you.

Discord is a tool, you can try to build here without using tools, but that's gonna be real painfully slow.

Yes, I have passed up on several invites that probably would have sped me along in my growth here.

Thanks Princess for this very important post. It is so IMPT. for our Community that we all do this. Kind of like voting in Elections for our Gov't officials. So it's crucial.

Again thanks for this post

Thanks for commenting! Would you like to talk about a witness or two that you like?

I vote for @curie and @ocd-witness because of their dedication to curating awesome content, and @pfunk to support the famous Steemit Open Mic organizer. I actually just recently did this, because I hadn't seen the 'Vote for Witnesses' tab in the sidebar before a couple of days ago. Great contest idea! :) I'll look through your list here and find some new witnesses worthy of a vote, I still have over 20 left!

Thanks for your comment! So glad you're learning more and using your votes. :)

yeah this is a great contest, I have been actively voting for witnesses so won't participate, it has taken me a while as I really wanted to get to know a bit about who the witnesses are. This is a great way to get people to get more involved, good job @katrina-ariel xx

Thanks for the comment! You're welcome to enter, just give a shout out for a witness or two who you believe in, and tell us why. I think it helps to share your opinions, as this is one of the ways we learn more. :)

Hi @katrina-ariel thanks for running this competition. Indeed a lot of people still don't understand how important this is. As a relatively new member of thealliance I am really learning so much here. I didnt realise that so many awesome witnesses are part of thealliance. I am so honoured to be a part of a group of people who make such a difference to Steemit. I hope that more awareness will grow from this and I personally am going to go back and put in all my 30 votes!

Thank you for your comment, so glad you found this post worthwhile! If you'd like to be eligible to win, I'd love to hear about one or two witnesses you believe in, and why. :)

Awesome post, congrats @katrina-ariel!!!
I won't get more involved than this comment [and resteem!] haha but I simply had to!!!
@drakos is the COOLEST
@patrice is -among a million other things- the @steemsugars admin on discord and @pharesim is an amazing character in person so I wouldn't miss those three for sure ;)))
This weekend @sjennon and @things are visiting from Berlin so I doubt we can catch the chat but I'm sure you'll keep us posted !!!

Thank you for this wonderful comment and for your support! Yes to praise for Drakos and Patrice. You've met Phareism in person? So cool!

Yes! He was at SteemFest!!! He's so quiet and niiiice !!!! :D <3

Thank you for this!

Thank you for your support. Would you like to give a shout out for a witness you believe in and enter the contest?

this is such a great initiative because as you said, so many people use steemit but does not vote for the witnesses and they are the reason why we can use a well maintained platform. Great job!

Thank you! Would you like to tell us about a witness you really like and why you vote from them?

Sure! I voted for @castellano and @cervantes witnesses because they do an amazing job supporting the spanish speaking communities. They do a lot of activities on their discord channels to help us grow on the steem blockchain teaching us about diferent topics.

Besides, @castellano represent the users providing us a tribune to solve disputes and mediate as well as build bridges between the authors and the shareholders and projects.

I also support others witnesses, but those two are the ones who I feel more related and identify.
