There are an increasing number of writing contests here on Steemit – in fact today’s list is the largest yet since I began the Writing Contest List - and some have excellent prizes that are well worth going after. The problem I was having was finding them in the sea of new posts in the contest tag. You might have been having the same problem.

Now you can simply drop by my blog each day to see what writing contests are going on across Steemit. I really do hope you find it useful.

This is an ongoing post that will be updated each day, with new contests added and expired contests removed. If you’re interested in writing contests, this daily post can be your one-stop-shop to keep updated on what’s new, and what needs to be submitted today.

Before you start going through the list and deciding what to write and which contests to join won’t you take a minute to head over to the Children’s Book Giveaway being hosted by @metzli? THE BECHDEL CON(TEST): does your favorite film pass?
Deadline: 20:00 GMT/UTC February 22, 2018
Description: The Bechdel Test examines whether women in films are portrayed as three-dimensional human beings with a range of lived experience and interests that do not revolve around men. For the contest, write a post about your favorite film that passes The Bechdel Test.
Prize: The top 3 authors will each receive 1 SBD (or more, depending on the success of the contest post!)

Poetry Dice Challenge 3000 - #27
Deadline: 07:00 GMT/UTC February 18, 2018
Description: Create a poem using the 9 images on the dice shown in the contest post. The theme this week is “Beginnings”
Prize: No prize listed in the contest post, but typically the Poetry Dice Challenge has a 5 SBD prize.

Shary's Writing Prompt Contest #1
Deadline: February 23, 2018
Description: Write a story, essay or anything that you can think of ranging between 500 to 1000 words using the prompt “Every night in my dreams...” and the theme “Thriller and Suspense”.
Prize: The winner of the contest will win a prize of 5 SBDs, and 2 to 3 honorable mentions will receive 1 SBD each.

Haiku Contest #2: Bugs and Arachnids in Winter
Deadline: 09:00 GMT/UTC February 23, 2018
Description: Write a haiku around the theme “Bugs and Arachnids in Winter”.

ADSactly Contest - SteemShort #4 - Post 1: Request for First Part of the Story
Deadline: Summaries to be submitted by 12:00 GMT/UTC February 19, 2018
Description: SteemShort are short stories written collaboratively by three differents authors and illustrated by an artist/photographer. The theme for this SteemShort is “The main character is Nicky, a young lawyer in New York City, that works for legal aid.”.
Prize: 50% of the story post SBDs, capped at 100 SBDs.

Thank you for collecting these writing contests! I've rediscovered my love of writing and reading new poetry & fiction. This is a good deed for the art of writing.

The contests helped me rediscover my love of writing as well. I'm glad you appreciate the Writing Contest List, and I hope it helps new writers as they find their way to Steemit.
