Although i would hope different. I do fear so. We are still worldwide behind the facts and mankind is proving it is easily capable of extincting themselves.

While that is true, Corona never threatened mankind with extinction.

I doubt it.
From what I understand: Those mutations that harm their hosts less should have an advantage over those that do and thus create a milder version of the virus over time.
Or: If that was a thing (viruses getting worse over time), we would have died a long time ago.
Lets hope so!
