World

It's starting to seem like things might be getting a bit better across the globe as the numbers today are down by quite a bit more. The number of new cases and deaths today are 73,858 and 3,751, however, compared to yesterday the number of new cases is down by almost 17k and the number of deaths is close to halved.

It might take a few days to confirm this data and analysis, but the last two days of data seem quite promising.

USA

Things are slowing down quite a bit in the US as the number of new cases is down by almost 9K (today's number of new cases is 26509) when compared to the previous day also the number of deaths has also close to halved, going from 2065 yesterday to 1157 today.

US has been the hardest-hit country in the world so far, and this new data suggests things might get better faster than expected. However, it is yet to be seen if the latest announcement by Colorado, Minnesota and Montana about easing of social distancing norms, might be a bad turn or not.

Russia

Russia continues to see a steady increase in number but their mortality rate remains to be one of the lowest at just under 1%. Most of the new cases are concentrated towards Moscow.

UK

UK is seeing a slow decline in comparison to the last few days. UK seems to not have any exit strategy from the lockdown at the moment considering all the chaos at the moment, and while Prime Minister Boris Johnson has returned to his residency after recovering from COVID-19 and set to resume full-time work starting from Monday, he is being urged to produce an exit strategy from the lockdown, as many fear not having one might turn out to be dangerous for the country.

EU

Things in the EU are slowing down quite a bit as Spain, Italy, France, Belgium and Netherlands who were one of the worst-hit by the pandemic seem to show a rapidly lowering number of new cases and death. If things continue as is, France may be completely out of the woods as soon as next week, and Belgium and Netherlands within the next couple of weeks.

It is too soon to say how long it will take for Spain and Italy to recover, but things seem quite good at the moment and with the current trend it may not be too long at all.

Brazil

The number of new cases has gone down by almost half when compared to the previous day, after having close to doubled yesterday, the country is not even close to out of the woods as the lack of proper lockdown and testing as the President continues to not waiver from his statement that COVID is a minor decease, is starting to show a toll on the countries medical system. Almost all the medical system in hotspots including the ones in Rio de Janeiro are overrun and unable to treat any new patient.

Hopefully, the President waivers from his ideology and does what is necessary, else it is imminent that the country might even collapse in on itself soon.

Rest of the world.

In Peru, the number of new cases is lower than the previous day, after having a ginormous 5X spike yesterday. However, the trend continues to show a rapid increase in the overall numbers.

Turkey and Iran show a steady decrease in the number of new cases. Both the countries were hit quite severely by the pandemic and it seems their containment strategy seems to be working well in favour of them.

Saudi Arabia is showing a slow but steady increase in the number of new cases daily, if the current trend continues, the country might very well double its total number of cases within a couple of weeks.

Things are not seeming very good for India either, even after placing the world's second-biggest lockdown, the current trend suggests a linear increase in the number of new cases though they saw a slight decrease today in new cases in comparison to the previous day.

With all that said, I am hoping to see a positive outcome tomorrow and the current trend in data suggests it might very well be the case. So, until then take care and stay safe.
