If Hemingway lived now, he would have been a blogger. His style is minimalistic - subject, predicate, several additions and adverbs. Probably many "read" it one of the most original stories: "Sold: children's shoes, not worn out."
Write short paragraphs
Hemingway probably knew that when you first look at any text, attention is primarily drawn to short paragraphs.
Write life-affirmingly and positively
Probably this advice was not heeded either by Kafka or Sartre. Hemingway as a person could hardly be called too optimistic, however his texts carry an inner faith in the best. Even sad stories and novels leave a rather positive flavor.
Use the energy of the language
Hemingway loved strong verbs. They contribute dynamics to the plot or simple text, emphasize especially important moments and carry the strongest energy. He also advised using a real pledge instead of passive.
Do not forget that when writing text it is important to call bright pictures in the reader. If you succeeded, at least you will be pleased to read, and you will hardly have competitors.
Do not just limit yourself to four rules
The first four rules from our list Hemingway received from his first editor in the newspaper Kansas City Star. And in fact, he, as a rule, was limited only to these rules.
