It was a Multi-level marketing scheme also called pyramid selling, network marketing, and referral marketing, is a controversial marketing strategy and looked doomed to fail it only suckered greedy people looking for quick and easy returns. 99.9% of these schemes fail and rightly so!

i feel bad for those that lost money, at the same time though I kinda don't. Don't get into scam thinking you will make money or you can scam someone else into making money.
If you look at Trevon and Craigs actions in the week leading up to this it is quite obvious they were in the know about this exit scam. If those guys still have even a single follower after this it will truly show the pure stupidity of their followers.
I think everybody made mistakes, promoting bitconnect was a big mistake, but I am really grateful I am on steemit today because of @craig-grant morning "steeeem report!!!!!"

I watched a video after the collapse with Crypto Nick and some other joker laughing about the whole thing, and what was truely shocking is during the 15 minute video they must have gotten a few hundred dollars worth of donations from people watching the stream... I mean wtf is wrong with their followers... they get scammed, the people that scammed them laugh at the situation, and then as icing on the cake they tip the scammers and tell them keep up the good work. People need to stop smoking crack I swear...

I knew they would run at some point but I didn’t realise how well thought through their exit strategy was. They pay out all outstanding loans in BCC at a rate of over $300 per BCC. Immediately after the announcement, BCC is practically worthless, leaving investors holding a tiny amount of worthless coins, but allowing them to say they paid out!

The Biggest Ponzi scheme in the world right now is the US Dollar, that will crash soon big time, then all the crypto buds will lol at those that like to hold Fiat currencies.

It is hard in this space because often something being valuable is disconnected from it being good (e.g. ripple, verge, tron likely). But Bitconnect was an outright ponzi from the start, and the problem is anytime you try to discuss it the people interested in protecting their ponzi as well as gullible people would leap to the defense vigorously. Glad Clif helped you on avoiding that!

If anyone had invested on Bitconnect, I guess you gotta take your money out now before the coin blows-up. Most likely it will disappear in an hour or a couple of hours or a day or a couple of days or if its strong enough maybe a week or so. I guess you can check it yourself and investigate what's going on especially when you invested a lot on Bitconnect. In my opinion, those coins/tokens with affiliate programs attached to them would most likely end up in struggle and in the long run will fade away slowly by slowly.
All the top 25 coins/tokens on Coinmarketcap.com I'd seen lately have no affiliate programs attached to those coins/tokens. The top 26 is Binance with affiliate program attached to it as we all know. If Binance won't stop its affiliate program, it will not survive in the long haul in my opinion. Why? Its because many affiliates would take advantage of this program especially those experts in affiliate marketing. They would advertise like crazy even to the point of creating some fancy ads (sometimes over descriptive even to the point of not related to the company they're promoting) of any sort to get huge signups. How much more if the affiliate program has also an MLM attached to it, it will be much worse.

I wonder how many similar messages will go out to the numerous all too surprised, all too unaware users of platforms that lack true banking and fiat escape hatches. Exchanges are wary of US regulation, which is why Tether dropped support for US customers. They think (laughably so) that telling US customers to not use USDT will protect them, but the US proves rather stubborn when it comes to pursuing any entities that claim to be creating their own currencies, especially if those currencies are designed to fool people into thinking they're actual dollar pegs.
Protip guys, don't print something and call it the same three letter as the US dollar on your exchange.

Yeah, what made sense about taking loans denominated in $ at BTC < $1000, and paying them back at 15x the BTC price (ie, paying back 1/15th the BTC)?

You have to think of the perspective of Korea. Its a small country who doesn't have anything in it so cryptomanupilation is good way for them to make money. They want regular people to sell because people think it will keep going down however i say keep it and don't sell it will bounce back more then before because thats what Korean government would want to happen so they make good money out of everyone who sold.

I only use centralized exchanges long enough to offload it onto my hardware wallet. Otherwise Bitshares is the best place because it's decentralized.
