I just read a cool article about the HODL mentality that permeates crypto and the conclusion was that the most defining chracterstic of people in crypto is resiliance.
What exactly is this ?
It got me thinking that I did not appreciate this aspect of our HODL motto. After all, we just went through a pretty brutal bear run and we are still here: writing, learning, connecting and making friends.
Sure, a few ( heh ) weak hands fell to the sideways. The tree was shaken hard!
But those who held, have a really good grip now..and an imrpoved chance to hodl on more next bear.
The next step is to become "antifragile".
Antifragility is a property of systems that increase in capability, resilience, or robustness as a result of stressors, shocks, volatility, noise, mistakes, faults, attacks, or failures. It is a concept developed by Professor Nassim Nicholas Taleb in his book, Antifragile and in technical papers.
Also, really great book, highly recommended!!
Sure, the dream of bull is what gave most of us power to hodl despite every FUD and doomsayer. But even if no bull, no reward beyond our belief in crypto, wouldn't we hodled anyway?
Is hard to say for sure. In bull the sentiment changes drastically and you tend to forget what you felt and thought back in full bear but I like to think that we are strong together and we will continue to be.
Maybe one day we'll meet for beers.
And we will pay for them in crypto. As is the custom of the age.
HODL!
In my experience, the best way to be resilient is to never check to price!
Been wanting to read that book for a while now. I have to start soon.
