2018 Olympics
The 2018 Winter Olympic Games will be starting in 3 days on February 9. It will be taking place in PyeongChang, South Korea. North Korea will be participating in it in its neighbor country as part of the talks made in the past weeks between the two war torn nations.
South Korean military troops and high security police forces have been deployed ahead of the games to maintain peace and make sure everything goes as plan. With high tensions between North Korea, China, South Korea, Japan and the United States, this will be one of the most important events of this year as important delegates and diplomats from those countries will travel to South Korea for the Olympics.
Will this affect Cryptocurrency?
This is hard to say or guess as the cryptocurrency market has been extremely volatile for the past several weeks. As @altcoinbuzz pointed out, we should all look at the long term plan and not worry about short term losses and gains as much.
I am guessing this will have somewhat of an affect since South Korea is one of the biggest markets in the Cryptocurrency world just behind the United States. Japan and China are also big investors and with many citizens in those countries spending money and travelling to the Olympic games, they could sell their Cryptocurrency assets or hold off investing into it due to the Olympic games. Lunar New Year coming in around one week can also have major impacts on the Crypto market.
All I can say is everyone invests differently and you must do your own research and invest accordingly and smartly. I myself will continue to HODL my small portion of Cryptocurrency I have because I am looking for the long term gains and I believe in the technology and the potential of this space!
