Did the Cryptocurrency Saving the Unbanked Narrative Change?

Which #bitcoin OGs out there are still talking about cryptocurrency for the unbanked while exposing the evils of fiat central banking and the wars they fund?

Those were good times. Currency was the killer app and programmable money was going to change the post-2008 world.

“First they ignore you. Then they ridicule you. And then they attack you and want to burn you. And then they build monuments to you.”

Banks will turn to cryptocurrency for survival, no longer ignoring, poking fun, or fighting.

The irony is banks will introduce people to, and teach them about, the very thing which will make banks irrelevant becuase once you understand cryptocurrency, you understand you are your own bank.

Sure, banks may stick around like how we still have radios when the TV, iPod, iPhone, etc came out, but they will be less dominant in shaping society.

I’m all for bank adoption. In the 90’s I used AOL which was my gateway to the Internet. Banks will gateway people to crypto.

Sort:

While I love talking about the new tech these projects offer like FIO, I still hammer the point home in conversation with new people about crypto that the #1 use case is banking the unbanked, providing freedom to citizens living under the tyranny of the central banking system.

Hmmm

  1. Banks do bail-ins making everyone flee to crytpo-currencies
  2. Banks adopt crypto-currencies and on-board all their customers.

win win? Maybe?
