Illegal Activity

Illegal activity can occur on every layer of internet, but deeper you go the risk of detection is lower. Of course it is not fool prove, but usually when you are able to access The Dark Web you have enough skill to stay in anonymity. There are government attempts to track and decipher data flow, but it is very small amount of data. Illegal activity on The Deep or Dark Web can easily affect someone who has never been there. For example almost every person uses Surface Web for communication throw social media such as Facebook, Twitter, E-mail communication, Internet banking etc. That leaves quiet big data trace, which can be used for stealing our identity and selling it someone else. Another very famous case that includes publishing secret government information is Wikileaks. There was also Silk Road. It was an online marketplace on the Dark Web that was used to sell drugs, guns, personal data, malware, and more. It was taken down in 2013.

CONCLUSION

Although the fact that The Deep Web is much larger than the Surface Web there are very few people that even know about its existence. Deep Web activity is almost always anonymous and that can be used for legal or illegal purposes, but illegal purposes are far more famous. Nowadays, when the privacy of a normal person is constantly reduced, I think that usage of The Deep Web will be increasing every day.
