Just read that an Islamic scholar has declared that cryptocurrency is suitable for use by Muslims. I know they have various rules that discourage borrowing money, but I'm no expert on this. Perhaps this contributed to the spike in prices this week. An extra 1.6 billion potential users of crypto is a good thing.
I'm on my way to the London Cryptocurrency Show. Its looking like there will be lots of Steemians there. Should be great fun.
BTW I may well pass 20,000 posts today.
Oh and the weather is looking great. This has all lifted my mood after hearing about the strikes on Syria. I hope that doesn't escalate. There's too much suffering in the world as it is.

Mashallah, I am often asked about crypto by my brothers and sisters in Islam and I often have to educate us on some of the basics of crypto-currency because a significant portion of us are still living in ignorance or following the opinions of scholars whom are mis-informed.
On the plus side, many of our youth are well aware of of the benefits of crypto-currencies and have been able to improve their community, send money overseas, and make local purchases all with crypto!
Islam is like a blockchain going back to the prophets with each block confirming previous blocks with hardforks and softforks along the way.
It's too bad I haven't seen a HALALCOIN or such yet...

I work side-by-side with a Muslim guy, he has taken my lead on crypto's since I started getting interested in January and has stakes in BTC and ETH. I guess it depends on who listens to who.

Ive been avoiding to talk crypto to our Muslim community. .. because i heard its Haram (forbidden ) ..but Im glad you said its Halal now... but im still 😕 confuse... i better check it out again

Question is just which "Islamic scholar" said that, and does it means every muslim should follow it. If he has not authority in islam, people should not follow him.
