Why does everyone that does one of these curating posts leave out the most important fact. You don't get anything out of curating unless you already have steem power. Even if you vote at the optimal time with 100% voting power you still get nothing. Either the post succeeds and your percentage goes to 0 or the post doesn't succeed and your reward equals 0.

Read the last paragraph under "Achievable" - its right there. You need SP. I don't sugar coat it.
...but to new members of Steemit, it may not be apparent the little SP they start with (3.0) is insufficient for any actual gains in just doing curation.
That is a crucial point. I don't think most beginners understand this and then are crushed when all their time curating results in absolutely nothing. We need a 'starters guide' which is realistic and specific for those who want to gain Steem Power and Dollars.
