Today marked a milestone for my youngest - her first overnight stay at her cousins' house without the rest of our family. It was a big step for her, venturing out from the comfort of our Seattle home, and admittedly, a bittersweet moment for me.
As I packed her little bag with overnight essentials, there was a mix of emotions. Excitement sparkled in her eyes, while my heart held a tinge of nostalgia for her growing independence. It's moments like these that remind me how quickly they grow up.
Dropping her off, I saw her rush into her cousins' welcoming arms, a clear sign that she was ready for this new adventure. The house felt unusually quiet without her, but the thought of her laughter and joy with her cousins brought comfort.
This solo stay wasn't just a sleepover; it was a step towards self-reliance and confidence. As parents, we strive to prepare our kids for the world, and seeing them take these small yet significant steps is a reassurance that we're on the right path.
