I got to attend an one year old twins birthday celebration in Lower Puna, Big Island.
When children turn one in Hawaii, it's a big deal, and for their first birthday celebration, parents will almost always throw them a big birthday bash. Usually, it'll obviously be attended by adults and those older, so the little one year old will most likely not remember anything, but regardless, families will go all out for their first birthday.
At this birthday celebration, a men's kahiko group dancers came and danced in the traditional kahiko dance (different than the modern hula that you usually see at resort/hotel luaus). This group has previously won in the Merrie Monarch hula competition that takes place in Hilo, Hawaii every April.
So it was a nice surprise to get to enjoy some traditional hula.

It's an interesting tradition.
Hawaiian Kahiko Hula Traditional Dance, I love watching it. this is a nice and unique traditional dance and has a very expensive traditional value for its price. and also the beautiful compactness.

This is wonderful
Yes traditional hula was first formed in Ancient Hawaiian times. The modern hula came about after the US took over Hawaii, so that formation happened especially in the mid-1900s
