What to do after Dark souls ?

in #darksouls7 years ago (edited)

Hello guys,

If you are like me and have enjoy the Dark Souls tetralogy (demon souls and dark souls), we all asked ourself, what to play now ?

I have dressed for you guys, what are (for me) the closest games to the dark souls experience after playing them in their hardest mode and getting the platine trophy (to not miss on anything and not showing off).

Bloodborne : I am not going to spend much time explaining why, as probably 90% of the people reading this post own Bloodborne.

  • Similar dark universe
  • Scenario is complex and not given to the player
  • Exigent gameplay (no shield, just dodge)
  • PVP / Co-op PVE
  • Lifetime (with side quest and secrets 50+ hours minimum for an experienced player)
  • Same studio

Lord of the fallen

Pros :

  • Exigent gameplay
  • New Game+
  • Beautiful armors & weapons skins
  • Freedom to tackle story by different path
  • Price 14€ PC, Xbox, 20€ on the PS4
  • Graphisme are not as good as a dark souls but still very nice looking
  • Powerfull magic
  • Lifetime +30 hours with sidequest

Cons :

  • Weak storyline
  • No character editor
  • No PVP & Co-op PVE
  • DLC is average

Nioh :

Pros :

  • Mix of dark souls gameplay and beat´em all
  • PVP & Co-op PVE
  • Storyline (given to the player)
  • Difficulty
  • No character editor but a possibility to change skins based on main story character
  • Skill tree, weapons, magic and ninja skills complete
  • Good DLC (new skills, story, maps & weapons)
  • Price on promo on the PS store at 20€ for this months and Season Pass at 17€
  • PVP rewards
  • New Game+
  • Lifetime (average players without doing many side quest will take 30 to 40 hours to finish it)

Cons :

  • Unbalanced PVP, Lag, not many players
  • No invasion by players, NPC only
  • Exclu PS4 and now PC
  • If leveling up fast the game becomes way too easy
  • Graphisme are not as good as Dark Souls (Nioh was in development for 10 years ! And was supposed to be released on the PS3

The Witcher (at max difficulty)

Pros:

  • Exigent gameplay especially if you start the game as I did at the highest difficulty mode
  • Storyline (what to say beside EPIC --> several endings)
  • Limited character editor
  • Skill tree, weapons, magic are complete
  • Top DLC ever made
  • New Game+
  • Lifetime with side quest I can´t even put a time, it´s certainly the longest in that list
  • Beautiful graphisme
  • Awsome lore
  • Exploration
  • Horse ridding, boats, swimming, climbing
  • Music and atmosphere
  • The Gwent (this card game is so cool, the studio made a stand alone gwent game on the ps store)

Cons :

  • No online mode
  • There is so much to do and see, it can feel overwhelming and it´s easy to loose track of the main story
  • Camera can be annoying

Bound By Flame

  • Pros Your actions have a direct influence on your character (skills, & skins)
  • Difficulty (the last boss of this game was one of my top 10 strongest boss ever played)
  • New Game+
  • Price
  • Story is average but keep you going
  • Character editor but limited
  • Romance with NPC

Cons :

  • Graphisme are not great
  • No online mode
  • The jump is difficulty can be really surprising at times and therefore unbalanced. Again the last boss is unreal if you are not prepared
  • Poor Exploration
  • Camera, Camera, Camera FFS !

Dragon´s Dogma

Pros :

  • Character editor
  • Lore
  • Lifetime
  • Exploration
  • Story is average
  • Graphisme
  • Gameplay
  • Mixed with a monster hunter feeling where you can be hunted as well by the monsters which is pretty cool

Cons:

  • No real Online mode (massive boss where each player give damage to his huge pool of HP)
  • Can become repetitive

Please guys let me know if you see any other games as I am looking for a new adventure or if ou disagree with me too :)

Have a nice day !
