How Can Hive Help Me? ALL REWARDS DONATED to DHF!

in #defi5 years ago

I'm in a problematic position. Things weren't working out in my relationship of 8 years so I spoke to my younger brother about crashing on his couch through the winter so I could focus on getting my life in order. The arrangement was as follows: Bring in some groceries and help keep the place clean. Sounded simple and easy and I was in compliance.
About 6 weeks after I made an irreversible move, he quit his job and began taxing me for extra. He got me for $200 extra about two weeks after he quit, then another $100 a week later. Two weeks after that he hit me up again and I said no. He threw me out of the car to walk about 10 miles back "home" where all my stuff was piled up inside the front door. I was then informed I wasn't staying there that night and my stuff had to be out by morning. This is after he tried to start a fist fight with me (3 times) on the side of the road when he threw me out of the car. I actually stayed with my ex for a couple of nights and looked into my options.

The police told me since I'd been living there for 2+ months he's have to get a court order to have me evicted, so I went back with the intention of making him take legal action, while I got everything in order.
He called the police to have me thrown out as a trespasser, but the cop told him he needed a court order. After the officer left he immediately got in my face yelling, trying to goad me into a fight. I called the police and they came to straighten him out, but the environment remained hostile.

My manager at work got wind of what was going on and offered me a suite at the hotel I work at for two weeks so I could have a "safe place" to get everything together. I think those rooms go for $250 a night. I don't recall the last time I felt so appreciated, so I took her up on it and got the hell out of the mess, but it cost me, a lot. Not only did it cost the entirety of my income tax return, and most recent paycheck, it's cost me tremendously here on Hive. One of the areas I was focusing on was moving into position to take advantage of everything we all know is coming this year. So I'm not getting to invest and trade now when I need it most. Turns out he's been itching for this. Apparently, even though I had the same lousy guidance as he did, I owe him, because our parents sometimes had to divert their resources away from his needs and interests to see to mine, and he's been begrudging me for it for life I guess, but never brought it up until he had leverage over me.

So, the situation is this. I'm staying in a stranger's basement, with no ride. My motorcycle is in the shop and I don't think I'm gonna be able to find the part I need anytime soon. I don't want to get into all the reasons I have lousy credit, but suffice it to say, I made mistakes... some my own, some not so much, but it landed me here, none the less.

I have a few thousand dollars wrapped up in various hive projects, that I really can't get to. Everything is staked or otherwise committed. For example, I have a tract of land in Splinterlands that won't be accessible for months, and I have some staked BEE, LEO, LEOMM, etc...

I also, have almost $3k in BTC, I've been investing for my ex (we're still tight and have a couple of financial ties). I feel like there's some way I can collateralize my assets without having to sell anything, but I don't know how. I'd like you guys to enlighten me.

How can I use what I have to get wheels and stability without sacrificing the foundation of my future? Where would I go to get a loan with my assets (and perhaps the ex's BTC if she's ok with it and I don't really risk it) without hindering the work those assets are doing for me right now? I'm prepared to sacrifice to keep on track, so if there's nothing to be done I can manage, but I live in Tennessee and there's almost nothing within walking distance, so I really need a ride, and with covid and all I'm only getting part time hours at work. I can make reasonable payments, but I had to spend my down payment to move. Anyone know how I can manage this situation most proactively?

if I were you I'd hit up @neoxian

I think this is a good call.

I'll do it! Thank you!

You sound a lot like the situation I was in when I started on here years ago.

Keep your head up and keep moving in a positive direction.

Thanks. I've been in this situation for quite some time, but one of the root causes is no longer an issue so I'm good as gold... just gotta ride out the storm for a few more months. :)

Also, unrelated, but did you see my question on the hive.loans proposal? If not I'll re-post here if you don't mind...

How will the proposal handle hive engine stakes? Will it consider those when determining the value of the loan being given? Will those assets also be powered down? HP is one thing, but mining tokens that are powering down don't mine anymore, right? How will that be addressed?

I must have missed the question! Sorry man. Been pulled a bunch of different directions as of late.

Hive-Engine tokens won't be directly supported on the Hive.Loans site however I will be writing some optional modules to enable their usage on site as part of the open source initiative of the contract as people running their own node of the Hive.Loans chain will be imperative in decentralization of the smart contract side chain.

I think I've figured out a method in which I'll be able to build it on a modified ethereum smart contract stack that accepts HIVE as gas fees and pays the miners in HIVE as well. So if all goes well every popular HE token could have their developer fork the loans site and run Leo.Loans or DarkEnergy.Loans or whatever and facilitate lending of that token exclusively.. all while earning HIVE for running a node to help decentralization.

The handling of HE tokens will be a separate but included module in the source code of v1.0.0 hopefully.. But I myself as the original Hive.Loans site won't be having HE tokens.. If you want them you are free to launch a HE token version of the site when we all go live. :)

This is awesome! I’m glad I asked. I can’t wait to support something else you do. Hurry up! 😜

Also to answer your HE mining tokens question.. Honestly have to get to building the HE tokens module and see what options are available. The HE stuff is a bit tricker to do as will have to check each individual separately to get their staking and powerdown data and whatnot. I'm not going to be personally entertaining the HE tokens on Hive.Loans but I'll certainly encourage others to launch sister sites featuring their HE tokens. :)

But handing over keys still affects those assets, yes? At the very least it leaves the borrower vulnerable to loss, doesn’t it?

I may have mentioned it, but if I didn’t, I have more value staked in HE than in HP. If I borrow based solely on HP I’m over collateralizing since my keys access HE. This seems problematic to me, though admittedly I have little to no clue. 😊

I think I may have asked it in a reply to another comment. My bad. None the less. I think between the different replies my question has been answered, at least enough for the moment. I can hardly wait to see this all come together.

I'm going to share this post for now. I see you in Discord. Hopefully we can all talk and brainstorm a little different options. Would you be willing to relocate long-term to other states outside of Tennessee?

Eventually that's the plan anyway, but I don't want to just yet, because everyone here has been so understanding and supportive I feel like I just found a new family and don't want to abandon them before I have the chance to properly show my gratitude for everything they've done for me.

Are you talking about not abandoning people online and/or offline? Sounds like you're specifically reference Hive Blog related people who you can not abandon regardless of which state you're living in.

No. I mean the people I work with. They've all really stepped up to be good friends and neighbors, but eventually I do want to leave TN again.

That is good news.

I can't really say I'm surprised. They're all good folks, but the feeling of appreciation has been overwhelming. I really hope I can do something really awesome for them someday soon.
