Now that we have your attention, here’s what this proposal is actually about.
Hello everyone,
Some of you may have already heard about Mantequilla-Soft. For those who haven’t, here’s a brief introduction.
Mantequilla-Soft is an open-source development initiative building and maintaining applications within the Hive ecosystem. We are currently responsible for the ongoing development and maintenance of 3Speak and Snapie. You can find all of our GitHub repositories at the end of the post.
Although Mantequilla-Soft is a relatively new initiative, it is led by long-time Hivers such as @meno and @eddiespino. Both applications are fully operational today, and in the case of 3Speak, the platform has seen significant improvements in stability, performance, and infrastructure efficiency. This progress required a considerable amount of work, and we believe it would be a mistake to let that effort go to waste.
Transparency first
This proposal requests 100,000 HBD, with 100% of the funds directed to @null.
If this proposal passes, not a single HBD will come to us. The HBD will be burned and taken out of circulation.
The amount is intentionally symbolic and reflects the scale of the infrastructure and development that major Hive applications depend on.
Why this proposal exists
We want to be honest and transparent with the community: market conditions are currently very difficult. HIVE’s price has been under sustained pressure, and the broader crypto market is experiencing heavy losses.
Our original plan was to submit a smaller proposal focused on basic maintenance, including limited developer compensation. However, given the continued decline in HIVE’s price, we believe this is not the right moment to do so.
What must be covered, regardless of market conditions, are infrastructure costs. The good news is that, thanks to extensive optimization work carried out by @eddiespino and @meno, server and infrastructure expenses have been significantly reduced. Today, the cost of keeping 3Speak and Snapie online is roughly one-third of what it was in the past. We can barely cover expenses, but we are close to this not being the case.
It is also true that, like everyone else, we have bills to pay and families to support. That said, we do not believe that requesting a proposal in the range of 10K–30K HBD at this time is responsible, as it could add further pressure to the market.
Instead, this proposal is a statement—a call to action for all initiatives and projects. It’s time we all make necessary sacrifices for the sake of the chain we call home.
A value-for-value approach
If you believe in the work we are doing and want to support it, you can do so voluntarily through the following means:
- Donate directly to @mantequilla-soft
- Delegate Hive Power @mantequilla-soft
- Support the witnesses operated by people involved in this effort, including @snapie, @aliento, and @threespeak
There is no obligation, expectation, or entitlement attached to any of the above.
What happens next
Regardless of the outcome of this proposal, we will continue maintaining both 3Speak and Snapie.
This is not a ransom letter. We are not suspending projects, disabling features, or holding development hostage. Now is not the time for that kind of drama.
However, to remain realistic, this also means we will need to seek external work outside of Hive to cover personal expenses. As a result, development will focus primarily on maintenance, optimization, and completing features already in progress, such as the 3Speak TV app and 3Speak Shorts, playlists, and other features already announced. Large new feature development may be limited until market conditions improve.
We are not going anywhere. We will continue listening to community feedback and supporting the ecosystem in the ways that we can.

Important Post we should all read
Everyone knows that @dalz knows his charts. Today he released a very important report on how Hive inflation is doing. Again, these are just facts, not accusations. Please take a few minutes to visit his post and study the numbers.
Why can't all front ends just put a compulsory beneficiary for users to use their front end to cover maintenance. If users remove it then then don't dispay their post.
I find it absolutely mindboggling that with an ATL people are still shafting the DHF by taking money as if HIVE was at $3!
Coming from the oil and gas industry, I am used to multi million pound projects being mothballed when oil prices drop, why is Hive different?

Burning 100K HBD? I am in!

I know you guys did this to cause awareness... and props to that from me.
But I am not going to vote for it (not yet). Why? Well, I am not doing it yet because it will not solve anything, unfortunately. Burning funds from DHF does not help with inflation. Obviously, if everyone decides to bring proposals like this to cut off payments at the top for everyone, then this might change the picture. I would support something like that, but I don't think it would happen.
What would help is a better choice of how the funds of the DHF can be used and that requires better tools to be used by the decentralised community. And I am really fond of what Dan said on his video...
And I think those solutions would potentially help address the root cause of the usage of DHF funds.
Now, what can be done in mean time to help the situation faster...? I think it's mostly trying to convince the proposal's beneficiaries to do something and avoid more HBD from entering the circulation. Burning HIVE will/can help, but not much in my view. It will hurt a lot of people trying to ask for things... but we should all try to do something.

The idea of this was precisely what you pointed out amigo. So we can all discuss this. I realize that as long as the funds are frozen in the DHF, they don't affect the price. But, what better way to put this front and center for everyone to see, to discuss.
Me listening to Dan's video is what prompted this very move. Eddie and I don't want to take the punches laying down, so to speak. This is the best way we can be loud.

Ever since we failed to get our one and only DHF proposal funded I decided that I wanted to take up the challenge to see if I could make Rising Star self sustaining.
Due to the lack of any kind of blow off top this cycle it is taking way longer than expected but it is moving in the right direction.
When you launch a game there is always excitement at the beginning so plenty of people spend to acquire packs, etc. If you put all of this income into a mixture of HBD savings and HP (and maybe a little BTC) then it is possible to grow the game's treasury and cover costs if you can keep the costs to a minimum.
Like traditional businesses you shouldn't expect to make a profit for at least the first 3 years so reinvesting in this way can make your game self-sustaining and live on into the future.
Once you have the costs covered you can start to think about taking ever increasing profit for the team.
So what I am trying to say, from the perspective of a dapp that gets income in some way, is that you don't need DHF funding if you are willing to be patient.
For dapps that need a little seed capital maybe a DHF fund could be inversely tied to the size of the dapp's treasury and finding discontinued if the treasury is not growing?
Our very own @tibfox is working on a DAO built on top of Magi. This is more or less the approach we want to take with Mantequilla.
The initial plan was to ask the DHF for some seed capital, but given the market conditions, its just not responsible. We align, tho...we align.

For sure agree with the proposal and symbolism with it. We need to stabilize Hive and weather the market conditions so that years of hard work don’t fall apart because of crazy market pressure. Got my vote!

Hmm... I'm not sure how I feel about burning the 100,000 HBD. It's more about the fact that I'm not sure I 100% understand the economics behind it (it's ultimate effect).
But I'll say this: I support you. We desperately need the apps you guys maintain. When conditions do improve and you ask for the pay, you've certainly got my vote.

The funny thing is that you don't need to understand all the technical and economical intricancies to understand that every hbd spent is typically spent on stuff that bring ZERO benefit to hive and just drag the price further down. Literally millions and millions spent for nothing.
Hive won't fix the water problem in Africa and clearly won't be winning any races any time soon. And let's not get started on stuff like the tip bot that cost 250k with nothing to show for.

The economics of Hive are complex and making a project self-sustaining is not easy with such a small audience. Scaling up would solve some issues, but these are 'interesting' times for crypto. I would hope that the Hive community will endure as it has such great potential.

My interest is in better understanding the situation.
Burning means that those HBD can´t be exchanged for Hive anymore which means those Hive can´t be sold on an exchange so they can´t make the Hive price go lower. Because each sell of Hive drives the price lower.
