Welcome to the 6th update of dGoall app. In the last update it was announced that dGoal entered an alpha stage and the focus will be more on adding brand new features to the app. And they already started to appear. Read on to learn more!
1. Planned maintenance
On Thursday, April 15th it was announced that dGoal will be undergoing a maintenance. This was required, because I had to upgrade the server that is running the app and change nameservers for the domain.
I warned that it could result in some issues for users, lasting up to 24 hours. And while it definitely was possible, most users shouldn't experience any major issues. And fair enough, on my end everything was updated and propagated properly in just a couple of minutes.
So it's safe to say now, that the maintenance ended successfully. The reason the upgrade was necessary is that in order to implement many of the features requested by the community, I have to set up some additional software: an API service, a periodic task runner, etc.
2. New features & bugfixes
Aparat from the upgrade, there's not a lot of new features and additions to the app. I'll skip few minor bugfixes, and head straight to a new feature that should come in handy for all players.
Used formation statistics
One of the main hindrances to an optimal play tactic was that it wasn't easy to check which formations your opponent mainly uses. Most of the teams will have a strong tendency to 2 or 3 formations, which they'll use very often.
Previously, you had to open your opponent's team page and manually open each of their past matches to see what formation they used. This was time consuming and not very user friendly.
Now when using dGoal you can easily see what formations have been used in the current season by your opponent. This information is available in two places:
- Prepare for Match page
- Team page
This means you can not only check formation for the next match, but also look up formations of any other player in the game.
As you can see, a very similar widget is also visible on the team page.
Currently formations data is only visible for the ongoing season.
The underlying API
The feature of formations overview relies on the new dGoal API, which is available at api.dgoal.app. With time more and more endpoints will be added.
The API, at least for the time being, is publicly available to use by anyone. To access the documentation, you can open api.dgoal.app/redoc or api.dgoal.app/docs.
3. What's next
I'd like to remind you that we have a neat little dGoal Feedback Board where everyone can leave their suggestions for new features and report any nasty bugs.
Currently the most voted feature is the Customizable autoplay, which will let you choose a default formation other than 433, which will be used if you do not prepare for the match. And that's the feature I'll be working on next!
3. Test dGoal & shape its future
