Now it's getting juicy.
Great to see these discussions but we need concrete action from our top witnesses and largest stakeholders.
With this bear market and the performance of hive in general a change has been long overdue.
It all comes down to one simple criteria?
Is a project adding value or taking value from hive. At the moment i would say that most projects are taking value form hive and most DHF proposals are doing the same.
Any project that is receiving money form the DHF should have a plan to become sustainable if they have users and/or add value back to the chain over time.
3speak has received a lot of money from the DHF over the past few years but what has it generated in revenue or brought back to the chain? This is not an attack on one project as we know the team behind the project work hard and believe in hive but does it generate revenue or bring in large numbers of users?? After performance this should be the biggest goal for an app. Users and revenue.
Splinterlands have done both by bringing in users and by buying large sums of hive from the market over the past few years and yet struggled to get any funding when they were struggling.
Keychain don't generate revenue but they add so much value to the chain as everything else works because they built such a great app. If they can find a way to bring in outside revenue that would just be a bonus.
Valueplan are giving away money like a corrupt politician. Aside from funding established users like crimsonclad that are doing work on behalf of the chain they are throwing out money with little return and no oversight. Madness.
Then you have hivewatchers getting funded who cost us money by driving away users and shrinking our userbase and our buyers of hive. They actually have a higher vote than keychain that enables the whole eco-system to run and voted by large stakeholders some of whom are in favour of these cost cutting measures....
I do think that every project needs to take a good look at there spending and where they can cut back as well as everybody taking a look at where the funding is going to.
Unless they are adding value or plan to add value going forward they should not be getting funded.
There should be a standard of reporting expected that we can all follow and see where the money is going to. I do think 3 months is too short that 6-12 months makes more sense but every project should be reporting monthly on progress and showing a breakdown of spending.
The WIP should include a standard proposal for people to fill out all the important details of their proposal.
KPI's.
Breakdown of costs.
Sources of revenue ect..
It should also include a way to fill out a monthly report for each project so that when i go into a proposal i can see their report for each month and see that they deserve to continue to receive a vote.
But as a chain we need to start looking at sources of revenue and get money moving into the chain from other sources.
Make it easy to buy hive and stake it.
Get every app generating revenue.
Go multi chain and get users from other chains operating here.
Build projects that people will use and make them web2 easy.
Lite accounts for all media sites that people can just log in with google or email.
Ads / partnerships
Prebuilt hive communities that people can easily create and customize for their crypto project.
Please provide clear evidence of this
Blurt only exists because of Hivewatchers.
The only user I know of who moved there is scammer and abuser mmmmkkkk311/mariuszkarowski
You could take a look. You'd recognize a lot of users there. You deserve credit for putting upwards pressure on Blurt's token price by increasing it's userbase.
Blurt is a scam haven for abusers, and Blurt's price is next to worthless. Same as Steemit.
I don't know enough about Blurt to dispute it's nature with you. I've never used it. While you're not wrong about it's token price, it may be hubris to crow about Hive's token price, as we approach the haircut today. I left Steemit and never looked back, so I don't care about it's token price. I don't know mmmmkkkk311, or whatever his username is, so can't comment on his character. You might be right. However, the folks I do know that use Blurt aren't scammers, but strong proponents of free speech that ubiquitously claim they were taxed, many by you, 100% of all their rewards until they left Hive.
So, you deserve recognition for playing a substantial role in creating Blurt from all evidence available to me.
Blurt forked specifically to eliminate downvotes, and @khrom posted mathematical proof that DV's concentrate stake, so it's hard to conceive of any more substantial reason for that orgy of flags and censorship that has pared >1m users that onboarded from May 2017 down to <10k today than to do exactly that. ~36 whales possess just over 50% of stake and thereby control the code the witnesses run which enables those whales to extract >90% of the inflation issued from the rewards pool. You may not be very effective at preventing scams and spam (DV's don't generally discourage either, as they profit via other mechanisms than post and comment rewards) but you have been integral in enabling the whales to maintain a lock on governance on Hive, which explains why your DHF proposal is continuously funded. You are a valuable player to the people that matter (because they run Hive) and I give credit where credit is due.
You have done a great job for them, and certainly earn every satoshi of your pay from their perspective.
It is impossible to censor anything on the Hive blockchain. Downvotes do not erase the content from the chain.
If they were blacklisted by Hivewatchers, it was for the abuse, not some sort of opinions.
Khrom in the ned was not blacklisted, although he was perpetually exploiting Tipu in a small circle farming.
Great points, voted for visibility. Definitely agree in the template updates you suggest, source of revenue etc.
FYI https://breakaway.community/ has a way to easily and for free, spin up your own web3 front ends
Id love to be able to log in with web2 and have a proxy account post to hive and then when i have enough funds, i can click a button and upgrade to a full hive account, all dapps should have a standardized plug in that manages that across hive so that you can log in with google anywhere
I just noticed that you mentioned 3Speak getting funding from the DHF. For clarification, 3Speak has never received a single cent from the DHF.
SPK Network was funded by the DHF. It is a method for rewarding users for storing content off chain on IPFS storage servers. SPK Network was finished in August according to the developer. He then wanted the community to pay him 300K HBD for him to assist projects to integrate it into their front ends so that users could get rewarded for backing up platform content off chain. Of course we dont support the community being held to ransom like that and so have disassociated ourselves from this developer.
Dan and I will now work on a way to implement a simple way to earn from backing up Hive content off-chain and being rewarded for it. Unfortunately, this will not be the SPK Network however.
