For a while now, Hive has used Postgres DB for Hivemind and HAF. These are two core systems in a Hive node. Postgres is an open source project funded by community donations and sponsorships.
Our dependency on Postgres grows every day as we use it. I propose we become a Postgres supporter, for as little as $2,500 we can sponsor postgres at the friend level and be listed on their website. For $30,000 you can become benefactor level sponsor which as far as I can see there are only two, Amazon & EDB.
This is very low hanging fruit for some minor exposure and to support a good project that is critical to our survival. It's no rally car, but it may take us places to target sponsorships like this that can actually make a difference.
I am sure there are many other opportunities of more strategic and beneficial uses of the DHF that help Hive. This one is real easy and just makes a lot of sense.

we use postgres at work as DB, it's definitely better than sqlserver for example and often better than oracle... i would vote a proposal on this, 2500$ is crumbs considering what is wasted already
Look here.. that race car is producing great ROI.. 😆 🤣
😂
If needed, I can lobby for it too. Assuming for some WILD reason It won't get passed.
Let's do this! 💪😄
Gives me an idea of cheaper marketing alternatives we should look for. There might be more such opportunities.
@hivemediumhub, if u check this one out
I think it failed because it lacked voting power. I had no intention of promoting premium version of medium.com
It was just built-in import feature and takes bare minimum time.
Since the blogs r first posted on hive, medium don't give a shit about those so it will try to reach limit them (even on premium version). But still for bare minimum upvotes, we could get 1500 monthly organic visitors to hive.
The project is dead, if u know someone who can help out with HP to attract participants, let me know.
Or we can discuss how it won't harm hive by importing our content elsewhere, like some hivers might have doubts.
Friend level sponsorship would be awesome! Supporting key open-source tech like Postgres helps us all. 👍
Sounds like something we should definitely do for all the correct reasons: both visibility for Hive and supporting a project Hivemind and HAF depend on, and it would be a hassle to switch to something else, if it would stop being supported. Plus, I've heard the core devs really liking PostreSQL for their needs on Hivemind and HAF!
No brainer. How can the DHF fund this?
Just needs an approved proposal and then doing it.
This reads like appropriate text for a proposal, IMO.
create the proposal, let's vote
Create the proposal, I will vote for it.
Yes, go for it.
Cheap easy marketing ($30,000 is peanuts) that has a real world effect. Should be a no brainer to get enough votes on DHF proposal.
I would defo vote for this
EDB will support this proposal 😄
Not a bad idea. At the very least it encourages curiosity in the Hive project.
I agree, Postgres is great and we have supported much less worthy causes with fewer net benefits to us (or even anything measurable like who the money went to and how it was used) so I can't really see any argument against it.
Seems like the DHF could easily cover that. Maybe someone should write a proposal. I'd shoot for the $30,000 level if we are using DHF money.
Give the rally car a can of fixaflat and save replacing a tire once should cover it.
For sure!
Hello @themarkymark, I noticed my posts have been receiving partial downvotes with the notification.blacklist tag. I’ve been on Hive for some time now and always try to keep my content original and in line with the rules. Could you please clarify why my account is listed and if there’s a way to resolve it? I’d really appreciate your guidance on this matter.
Move to blurt.blog - resistant to account destruction!
How do I do that, I don't know about blurt
Visit the BLURT Discord channel: https://discord.com/invite/BVumWyg and hit this one: (account-creation)
You upload this content and everyone applauds, but they do it because they fear you, not because they want to, you are abusive.
You are 💯 right everyone is scared of this loser
Don't suck up get downvoted 😂
I don't "suck", I always wanted to interact with him to know why he takes me as an enemy, but he doesn't answer me, his silence is like mocking my economic inferiority condition compared to his... I didn't come here to have enemies
It seems like all he is trying to do is bully people
Please don't let this affect your life they get pleasure from hurting people 🙏🏾
No one cares just stop downvoting innocent people RE: Improving Hive’s semantic search performance
I think we should do more to support open source in general, like a prize for new non-crypto projects which post updates here.
In the world of sponsorship that is cheap. Friend level is a no brainer. Not sure if it would be worth to spend 30k, what is the benefit besides being listed alongside Amazon?
I'd support that. Where's the proposal?
No, it actually has utility to Hive.
Thanks!
If we can give the Gym Street spongers $4000 for an "Industrial" first aid kit last year we can surely support this for the best database system around.
btw, you might enjoy this.
🤣🤣 love it.
Where can I get an industrial first aid kit like that? I got a paper cut.
A much better use of funds than a rally car.
@themarkymark is the destroyer of the HIVE bockchain. Don't listen to anything he has to say. Such a rotten apple.
At first i saw "let's be friend" and though i could make a new friend today and the saw it was marky and that marky might not be looking for friends....
Brainrot a part, we should totally sponsor this if we (as a chain) relay so much on the project. Up until we come with a replacement solution.
Please stop downvoting my original content and everyone else who has done nothing wrong stop this @blocktrades RE: Improving Hive’s semantic search performance
You are destroying Hive
