This is yet another bad news for Facebook. This lawsuit is a class action suit taken on behalf of Illinois citizens. If this succeeds, then there is every possibility for the citizens of the other states to follow up with similar actions.
By its own repeated misconducts Facebook seemed to have annoyed many people. The fact that Facebook is cash rich gives every incentive for potential litigants to file actions against it for its offending conduct.
This should serve as a poignant reminder to the investors in mega corporations to abide by ESG investing principles.
