Bitcoin in particular and cryptocurrencies in general represent a threat to United States' control over the global economy as they will either displace the US dollar as the reserve currency for most of the world or simply do away the need for a reserve currency.
Countries that understand this and that want the U.S hegemony over the global economy destroyed would have every reason to encourage the use of bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.
Even if Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies become widely accepted in many parts of the world, I expect United States to be one of the few nations or the last nation in the world to continue opposing their use and adoption for the simple reason that cryptocurrencies are the death knell of U.S hegemony over the global economy.
