Ketogenic diet helps tame flu virus

Both intermittent fasting and ketogenic diet are known to help the body to stay in ketosis and burn the ketones produced  for energy. 

This University of Yale study shows that ketones can fuel immune system to fight flu infections. 

Does that mean instead of ketogenic diet we can also use intermittent fasting to achieve the same results?

Why not? Researchers have found the usefulness of intermittent fasting. If the mechanism of both (keto diet and fasting) are same, then I think doing intermittent fasting will just do the work.
