Star Citizen es el simulador de vuelos y combates espaciales más ambicioso que existe, pero también el proyecto de crowdfunding que más éxito ha tenido: recaudó 200 millones de dólares de los fans y otros 46 millones de un inversor.
El video juego, que se inició como un simulador de vuelo espacial en 2011, ha ido recaudando cada vez más dinero, incluso un inversor sudafricano compró el 10% de la empresa por 46 millones de dólares.
Por si fuera poco, la empresa está trabajando en un juego para un solo jugador basado en el proyecto multijugador que ha contado con la colaboración de Mark Hamill, Gary Oldman, Gillian Anderson y Andy Serkis dando vida a algunos de los personajes.
