For some reason, I have seen steemians posting comments and they don't bother upvotes the posts they are commenting on.
Two things they upvoted too much and their upvotes worth peanuts.
Or they just blalantly don't upvotes cause all they are looking for are your upvotes.

There is someone who keeps motivating me, commenting on my posts, without even bothering to read, upvote and comment something specific!
But good manners you either have or have not.
An upvote is not about rewards. Or at least not only about rewards.
An upvote means that you support the author and his/her efforts for writing a post.
I was referring to people that comment hoping that they will get upvoted. These people have 100% VP because they do not upvote anyone, they usually do not post, and they just comment in a regular way without even bothering to read one line of the author's post.

I always upvote and even upvote all comments on my posts, I am still torn with regards to upvoting myself, though I sometimes cannot resist? but as I said I ALWAYS make sure to upvote everyone who leaves comments on my posts and even replies. so maybe it is ok to self vote, lol. but I always hesitate.
My posts still perform like crap even when I write a ton of original content, but thats all ok :-) will keep on keeping on steeming... maybe oneday when I am big I will get some good upvotes, lol

Well,it only takes a smart steemian to realise the need to upvote someones comment on their previous comment as relating to a post.It gives the person upvoting your comment a sense of agreement with the visitor on his blog or post.
I’m new this week and just learned you shouldn’t upvote 40 times a day, so I held off votes for 2 days, I’ll come back tomorrow and throw you an upvote. More annoying than the personal upvoters are the “Nice post, I makes me success reading ur post, please upvote and follow me”. Then you look at those people comments and it’s the same spam comment and all their posts are plagiarised posts. Those don’t help the platform at all.
Ha ha, funny and excellent expressions and yes we will give the same expressions when we see an comment in our blog post with upvote of 2 dollar or 5 dollar but our post have just 0.01. Ha ha 🙂
that the problem bro... maybe some day steemit will finally adjust things so selfvoting maybe taken out of the game and therefore abusing steemit & the community... maybe its already been worked at as this seems to be a serious problem of steemit in my point of view

I prefer to not upvote any comments unless they are really REALLY GOOD, i would rather go look at some of that person posts and upvote them so they can get more exposure on steemit, already upvoted 3 posts today because some people left a nice comment on my last post, ofc if i happen to think they haven't read the whole post i ain't voting nothing
I generally only upvote a comment if I really want it seen or want to start a discussion around it but I’ll almost always upvote any intelligent replies to my comments.

I have done this myself, I do feel guilty about not upvoting but my Steem Power is low and my vote doesn't add anything.

Since the platform is more of interacting with one another than the monetary profit, i believe upvoting people's comment is a way to bond with them.
