RE: Activated Charcoal : A MUST for any DOG OWNER! Save his life and your vet bills!

in #dog7 years ago (edited)

My cousin's beagles have been into the hospital several times for the stomach pumping exercise.

One ate whole chocolate cake from inside the closed fridge.

One day when we were in the pet food shop one of my dogs came out of the back room with blue particles between his teeth. Started investigating and discovered it was rat poison tablets.
A few moments of doubt and anxiety, and took him to the vet, (the pet food shop owners now wife, is my vet) and she injected him with an emetic and he threw up not one or two but seven whole tablets of the stuff.

The bag says extra delicious!

Have you ever seen Louis CK talking about trying to make his dog vomit?

he says it was by squirting hydrogen peroxide down the dogs mouth.

but it's hilarious.
I could find it for you if you want.

thanks for the advice, I should keep something handy for these moments of doubt, with so many here I am used to the vomiting thing.
Hardly bat an eyelid anymore if they aren't on the bed at the time.

Sort:

Rat poison! That's awful! I don't use any insecticides and pesticides, in my garden, because I'm worried that they will get sick!

And about inducing vomit, I had to do that recently, with my little one. Hydrogen peroxide to make her throw up a whole pack of cigarettes, followed by activated charcoal. It was disgusting, but I avoided another trip to the vet!

They anyway recognize my older one, Tiara, because of the bazillions visits over the last 8 years! I'm just hoping Pixie, will be less famous in this regard!

yes, you would not find me buying any poisons of any description

I have never done it myself, make a dog throw up, they seem to be able to do it themselves when I'm around
