Hi Steemians, today Lisa's diary part 2

Here part 2 of the diary.

Saturday May 3 2014
It went something better with Lisa. She was allowed from the IC to the ward where she could recover further.
The doctors were satisfied.
We were so happy when the doctor told us that when the blood value stays good, she may go home tomorrow.
The happiness was short-lived. Lisa's blood levels were still too low and they wanted to keep her for a day longer..

Sunday 4 may 2014
Today to visit her. She was happy to see us but still very very tired. Her leg was slightly swollen, probably by the drip. After we visited her for almost 2 hours, we went home. Again I had to leave her.
We were just back after a trip of one and a half hours when the phone rang on Sunday evening at half 7!
It went worse with Lisa and whether I wanted to give permission for a second blood transfusion! According to the doctors, there is still a good chance of recovery, though they give no guarantee. Since she has the will to live, so I gave my consent for a 2nd blood transfusion. The Ht values are down to 17%.

Monday morning 5th of May 2014
Again call from the doctor. (Meanwhile my heart is already in my throat when the phone goes and I see the number from Utrecht). It's okay with Lisa .... the 2nd blood transfusion was not necessary yet.The Blood Result Ht 17% but still far too low.
The docter told me he was worried about her leg. The swelling had increased. The moisture in the paw did not disappear quickly enough, the cause was not known and further research had to be done. Lisa is not allowed to go home yet.

Tuesday morning 6 May 2014
Again a call from Utrecht .... Lisa breaks the blood cells again. The blood value has decreased further. This may be because she breaks down the donated blood, but the 2nd blood transfusion must be done. Furthermore, the leg is still being examined. She goes back to the IC.

Visited her tonight ... and what did it hurt me to see her like this! Extremely tired of blood transfusion and pain on her paw. At the moment she is getting prednisone, antibiotics and methadone for the pain. She is still infused.

She hears us coming in and Lisa comes up to greet us. Poor Lisa, so tired and sick and yet so much willpower to survive ....
I hug her and give her a big kiss. I have tears in my eyes .... and tell her that she needs to get better soon. Then she puts her head down and goes to sleep
Another hour and a half drive from Utrecht to home .... hoping she's strong enough to beat this disorder! Hoping she's still there tomorrow.

Later in the evening I made a call too the doctor in Utrecht. I just want to know how it is with Lisa.
Then the doctor told us that blood levels were stable after blood transfusion. Her paw is not good. Some of the skin starts to become black and it seems that this piece of skin is dying.
In itself, this is not yet life-threatening, but she must not get blood poisoning. The downside to her paw is the prednisone she receives, which makes her immune system unable to cope with the bacteria. But without this prednisone she will break her own blood cells again. She still gets antibiotics and heavy pain relief.
Note: Lisa remains a fighter, has no fever and her heart rate is calm!

Tonight again at Utrecht. Arriving at the university we had to wait in the waiting room. We were told that it was very busy and it could take a little while before we could see Lisa.
5 minutes later, the nurse came with Lisa. She is walking!!!

I had never expected this .... With her sore paw she came to my and licked my face. My sweet loving dog. I hope she knows how much i love her....

Lisa is stable at this moment and transferred from the IC to the media care unit ...
She still has no fever, thats a good sign. Even though she is not doing well , I keep hoping for the best!

Wish you all a very nice day ♡
