  • Yes, because it has some psychological effect on us.

I'm not well versed in the "mythology" or "spiritual" aspects that people sometimes talk about, when they think about psychological effects of yoga. But certainly, when thinking about different asana's (postures) and pranayama (focusing on breathing, and feeding your body oxygen) there are definite mental and physical benefits. Coupling the two together with intention and care provide focus and strength for your body, and the rest of your day -- in my opinion at least.
