How to Build a New Government on the Steem Blockchain & Succeed in it's Non-Violent Implementation

in #dsound6 years ago (edited)

INTRODUCTION

This is the world's first official proposition for designing a Government on the STEEM blockchain as well as a detailed outline of what actions we, the people, will need to perform in order to make it a reality. This podcast will discuss everything from the technical hurdles of utilizing Smart Media Tokens to create an equal-weight polling system to the strategies which will be employed for this Government to officially replace oppressive regimes or make significant improvements to existing Governments in a non-violent and non-threatening manner that does not require any direct conflict.

This yet unnamed project, when completed, will provide a uniquely powerful tool, as well as a strategic formula citizens of any nation may utilize to re-design, repair or completely replace existing Governmental bodies in a non-violent manner which begins as an innocuous, grassroots "Polling Movement" where citizens may vote on and view consensus opinions on various topics, and can become an authoritative body of Government through group-consensus.

Simply by reading this and taking part in it's discussion, you are effectively one of the world's first co-signers of a new Declaration of Independence and will have helped to create the world's first Government truly ran by the people, for the people, where all citizens have equal power over decision making and no longer have to trust elected (or non-elected) authorities not vote against our self-interests.

Great Minds to Collaborate With

These are the nicest, most intelligent and most passionate individuals I have met on steemit thus far (only 4 days in so I expect this list to grow rapidly!) Network with these people if you want reliable and passionate friends:

I'm for social, global, blockchain communities, markets, networks, as we have, and for what we have in that to grow, if that counts for global, online, international, governance, that is decentralized as Steem, Gab, Bitcoin, and others, are, but I want people to also focus first on family first values and local communities first as well, first, to put priorities offline first to some extent, as we should be kings and queens of the physical, literal, land, properties, cars, houses, trees, lakes, farms, buildings, that we own, that we may buy, and we should be allowed to do whatever we want to do on our land be it to collect rain water, to have solar panels, to have some guns maybe, and so on and so forth.

Local communities first, offline, and then global ones online.

Being more on the minarchy / anarchy side I have the heretic question of: Why do we need government at all?

12:00 And as such I am not that impressed by utopian-io . They moderators come across as quite conceited and you are only payed if the one and only moderator checking your work likes your work and if not he or she will reject your work out of hand.

This kind of concentration of power in the hand of a few moderators is quite the opposite of what I would wish for. It's not “we the people for the people” but “we the moderators for the people”.

As much as I like @steemit and all the tools around it concentration of power is the main challenge the faced by the system.

18:00 Which sounds a lot better then moderator driven utopian-io.

24:00 And here is where it will fail: No current government will accept an declaration of independence. And not just your own government but all the governments will fight it — unless they think the newly formed state.

The 2nd problem would be laziness. We barely get people off Facebook. Also I have shilled Steemit quite a bit to no avail.

33:50 That will be interesting to see how that works out. Good news for you is that Utopian-io Moderators like marketing related projects. If your write up is good then I am sure your get the exposure you need.

First, thanks so much for your contribution and for listening to the proposal! This is exactly the sort of feedback we need to work out all the fine-details.

Being more on the minarchy / anarchy side I have the heretic question of: Why do we need government at all?

Well it depends on how you define government; I look at it as nothing more than majority-decided rules to protect and preserve as much equality as is possible and lay down foundational guidelines such as do not kill, do not steal, etc. To have a true anarchy, society would have to be evolved and highly educated. We may be able to have that in the future but first we have to evolve and educate the citizens, would you agree?

I am not that impressed by utopian-io . They moderators come across as quite conceited and you are only payed if the one and only moderator checking your work likes your work and if not he or she will reject your work out of hand.

Thank you for informing me about utopian.io, I may have to revise that part of the proposal if it is indeed only ran by one central moderator. Is this true @utopian-io? Is moderation centralized? Doesn't that defeat the purpose of the STEEM blockchain philosophy that everything should be decentralized and voted on by group consensus? We may have to find a truly decentralized crowdfunding platform, but I am sure one already exists or is in the making @krischik

I agree with you that with @steemit, concentration of power will be ones of the main challenges, but this is why we will be using smart media tokens to create an equal-weight system not based in STEEM currency where all votes are equal in regards to polling and measuring public opinion.

Perhaps the website for polling will handle the crowdfunding as well? That significantly complexifies the project though.

24:00 And here is where it will fail: No current government will accept an declaration of independence. And not just your own government but all the governments will fight it — unless they think the newly formed state.

Don't be too quick to assume failure before it's even tried haha, belief is a powerful tool and only with the belief that we can succeed can we succeed. Remember that the first nations to adopt this will be desperate to do so due to oppression, or in a position where the government is willing to try something new to help escape poverty. Let's not think about how this applies to large nations just yet. It will scale up to that.

As far as laziness goes, I think the real problem is ignorance. People think it's not possible because they don't realize how powerful and real this technology is. They need a spokesman, they need a proven demonstration that it works. That is what we will create together (if we so choose.)

Again, thanks so much for sharing your comments, and especially, your critiquing. It is very important that people criticize and critique this project so we can work out all the loose ends and ensure the project moves in the most logical, secure and powerful direction possible.

we have to evolve and educate the citizens, would you agree?

Yes.

only ran by one central moderator

There is of course more then one moderator. But only one will decide on your proposal not as you suggest a community by up and down-voting. That's only done if the moderator who happens to make the initial evaluation of your proposal considers your contribution worthy.

This is done to ensure quality of the posting. Acceptable for a software development site with emphasis on quality of postings. But in opposition of a free marketplace of ideas where every idea need to be heart by as many as possible.

As far as laziness goes,

I meant laziness of even opening an account. But advertising Steemit is something @utopian-io is working on so you might get help there.

@KrisChik, I am reading what you wrote to @AnotherHero. And I know that Utopian may have problems like you said but that is life for now until we make things better. We use what we have and go from there.

I posted to Utopian and when I post there, it automatically posted on my Steemit too before it went on to be accepted on Utopian. As far as I know, things are approved on Utopian as long as they follow the rules, the structure required for a post. But even if you don't meet the requirements, it still is posted to the Steem blockchain meaning you do not lose it and people can upvote it still so you can get however much people may think your ideas are worth and that is how a market works I think.

I like family first values first. I love offline, local, communities, first. We should start there. I want to increase freedoms, rights, liberties, for families, individuals, companies, groups, religions, to do what they want on the land they own, they buy. We should be the kings and queens of our own property, as much as possible.

Online, I do like decentralized places like Steemit and also like http://Gab.ai and maybe other websites and blockchains and cryptocurrencies and I like Bit Torrent and email and I want blockchain Internet too. And it is a work in progress. And if Utopian has problems, then can you do better? We see problems in the world, and we got to take the problems one step at a time in trying to find solutions and focus on the BEST ideas we can find, or BETTER ideas, even if the BETTER ideas are bad ideas assuming the ideas and the solutions are better than even worse alternatives, options. We got to always think about which direction we are going as humans, up or down.

@krischik @joeyarnoldvn Thank you for your insightful replies my brothers. I am thankful to get your input on this.

Hey@anotherhero! Thanks for the mention, let's make it happen..haa!ha!ha..Peace.

Thank you so much for the mention and sorry it took me so long to read this post! As before, really appreciate your enlightenment on a very new subject to me. Best wishes to you.
