As the years' end looms in the horizon and so it is the usual time to think. To look back at what happened in 2018 and to start planning on what's next.
Although it was a relatively strange year for crypto - to put it mildly - but it was still a great year!

End of the Year Review
During 2018, DSound:
reached over 5.000 active posters and at least 30.000 listeners.
And we are not even counting lurkers or the shyest among us. ~~~~Our active posters come from all over the world!
We are just missing someone from Antarctica...
A rundown by country would be as follows:
All these stats were made by using the open voluntary information from our users profiles
had ~25.000 sounds posted, with a mean duration of ~8 minutes. This means the average user posts ~5 times.
This also means a whooping ~3000 hours of sounds were made available to the world in our platform.
That's enough to get to the Moon and back almost 22 times (using the appropriate vehicle...)!A very conservative estimate shows that our sounds were played for ~54.000 hours!
Forget about the Moon - with that amount of time, you can get to Mars and back almost 4 times...Each post was upvoted on average 16 times.
Again this is an average - if your posts weren't as sucessful, just keep improving, build your fanbase and get your name out there!
There's plenty of time for that in 2019.was used by a very varied crowd. Posts on DSound covered most music styles, yet some were more POPular than others...
Also, looking at it by type,
It is great to see that our tribe love original works above everything else. It is also great to see that we are reaching podcasters all-over-the-world and that we are used to spread not only great music, but also ideas, lifestyles - and above all making humans connect.
The year 2018 was a great year for DSound - we have improved and launched several major updates and we have been listening to the community.
And it wasn't completely innocently that we were making jokes about space. Space exploration is all about improving our limitations and out-do ourselves.
And that is precisely what we are aiming for in 2019.
In 2019, we hope to make DSound bigger and better. To improve the way you can interact with the community and to really make it a force to be reckoned with.
But again, DSound is nothing without its community - and so an heartfelt thank you to all the tribe members. We love you all, unconditionally!

What is DSound?
DSound is a decentralized web application that allows anyone to upload, listen and discover music and other sounds stored on top of the IPFS Network.
It uses STEEM blockchain as a persistent database, so by posting their sounds the authors can earn rewards in cryptocurrency, when other users like their content, which can be exchanged easily to US Dollars, Euros or any other currency, with a look and feel very similar to Soundcloud.

I don't use your dapp, cause I'm not a musician but I wish to say congrats to your work for the steem community ;)
I don't use the platform since I'm not a musician or poet... but I think these are the kind of projects that this blockchain really needs. And not a bunch of Witnesses who only post single line thrash posts to upvote themselves, without giving nothing in return.
So, I've voted for your Witness and I vote a couple of DSound's posts made by other users. :-)

@trincowski You're exactly right. Front end dapps using Steem as well as the creative community and quality content producers are what this platform needs to attract a wide net of new users and ultimately take a larger step toward widespread adoption. @dsound remains one of the best of the best, both in functionality and honesty. Steem on!

You know, I was a strong dsound supporter earlier on until I discovered that the submissions expired. I understand a lot of evolution and development has happened since then and really need to check out the platform again. I know you are a big supporter of @pennsif as well so there is another reason!

The reason the uploads expired I think is because that's the nature of the steem blockchain, post payouts don't go past 7 days? They did a post about it, and even a presentation at steemfest which explained it well too. As a music producer, I love it really and the updates have only improved it each time!

Great information from a great year! I released mine albums this year and my motivation was started and sustained by the Dsound community. In fact, it motivated me to spend the year full time building a music career!
