Jacob Goes Off Grid Day 169 Part 1 (Podcast Version)

in #dsound6 years ago

This is a podcast version of a video from Day 169 of going off-grid. I went 'off grid' six hundred and sixty-two days ago and it has been quite the journey since I got dropped off at this old fallow farm and built (continue to build) all my own infrastructure. I have been video documenting the entire process and have just recently begun publicly sharing some of the videos. I have been sharing the videos privately since I started the entire process which I call Jacob Goes Off Grid In The Woods. 'Day 1' is the morning after I arrived at this little place in the mountains in the 'dead of winter' on January thirteenth of two thousand and seventeen with my dogs, my wits, minimal gear and very little hard currency to work with. Slowly I have done my best to breathe life into a very old farm and give it all my best, 'learning as I go', and documenting the process as best I can. It has been quite the journey so far. @jacobpeacock

Day One-Hundred-Sixty-Nine Part One:

In this video I talk about how even though it rained for most of the day it was sunny outside.

I talk about listening to an audio-book and taking a lot of naps while it was raining.

I talk about feeling sore and how I wish that I had a good pair of loppers so that I would not have to be hacking all the brush the way that I had been doing it with the cane knife and the swing-blade.

I talk about how none of the black locust seeds that I planted are growing and mention some of the factors that I think are the causes for that failure.

I show a few of the black locust that I started from root cuttings and talk about how they are growing.

I show my potato plants and talk about how great they are doing but I do not know when they will be ripe.

I talk about how nice it is with my phone service being off because I do not have to use my limited electricity to charge the phones all the time which previously had been a huge source of aggravation.

As always this is just a summary of the video's content and not meant to explain everything that I cover in the video.
