Kumi Sasaki - Chikan in the Underground (Eng Sub)

in #dtube4 years ago (edited)

Chikan is a Japanese term referring to sexual harassment conducted against the victim's will or a person who commits such an act. This is the portrait of Kumi Sasaki. She suffered the harassment of Chikan in the underground of Tokyo for years.

In the course of the project "Being Born A Girl" I went to Tokyo together with my collaborator Candice. We interviewed many girls - of all ages - that suffer from this behavior.
Above all young girls are targeted. Girls that are unlikely to complain or sue an aggressor.

In our interviews, we found that many girls have not even talked to their mothers about their experiences.

Chikans are being treated as cases of addiction. Sometimes one aggressor can have 300 or 400 victims because he takes the chance to harass girls when he goes to and returns from work. It's the only moment that he escapes the tight corset of work life.

There is a racist idea, that aggressors have low intelligence, are not in control of their impulses and have dark skin. But in reality, the aggressors are salarymen who work in offices and have gone to university.

I want to urge all of you to show courage. To make these cases public. We stand behind you. We believe you!

This is a great publication that I rebloge.
It is very important to make these complaints because the victims should know that they are not alone and that it has not only happened to them.
The perpetrators must know that citizens have the courage to face their sick minds.
A cordial greeting @elenahornfilm

I absolutely agree with you @marcybetancourt . It took Kumi a long time to be able to write about this systematic abuse. I hope that there will be more civil courage growing and that the police will believe more girls and women if they talk about their encounters with Chikan.

Kind wishes
@elenahornfilm

Possibly your work can give courage and encouragement to abused girls and young people. They cannot keep the negative of the human being because there are many good people in the world like you. Regards

You describe such repression and fear. A society that has ridged expectations for conformity, and citizens who are willing to be good followers by suppressing their real humanity which then bubbles up into bad behavior or is hidden under shame and guilt. America also fits squarely in this category of society raising "good citizens" at all costs.

So many excuses are made to protect the bad behavior of men! (I am making the assumption that most of the chikans are male, just like in America.) Where are the good male role models? Why isn't bad behavior met with actual consequences? These are questions I have asked recently in a post as well. Thank you for sharing this important work. 🌱

Dear @bia.birch , yes, I'm always shocked about how much brutal and inacceptable male behavior is being excused. It's like they are shielded and protected. I guess that is the disgusting face of patriarchy.

I will give a read to your posts now. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and let's not get these guys away with their horrific attacks.

You are so wise. While masculine energy has an important role to play, so does feminine energy. I hope we are on our way to a more balanced existence. 🌱

@elenahornfilm, In my opinion Skin and Gender harassment and racism are like Evil 😈 Seeds of this planet.

It's really unfortunate that sometimes innocent Humans go through from Darkest Phases.

Now we are in the Most Awakening Era or Timeand now we have to raise the voice of Truth.

Have a great time ahead and stay blessed.

Hi @chireerocks , yes, I agree with you. We must support those that are brave enough to raise their voices. So often it comes with plenty of personal repercussions. So we must stand strong behind them! xx

True.

Have a blessed time ahead.

Thank you, you're wonderful.

Welcome and thank you. 🙂
