Food Inflation is Getting Bad

in #economy7 years ago

So I live in an area of the United States where inflation doesn't hit nearly as bad. Well recently, I noticed small jumps in prices (50 cents to a dollar) at some fast food places I go to frequent enough to remember the price.

Well, today I went out to lunch to a local deli, and something I normally get that is $7.52 is now $10.98. That is a rapid increase in price. When I asked them why they are doing this, they said corporate told them that they were to tell us they increased the portions.... And I was actually getting the same amount, but less now as I'm not getting a bun anymore.

This actually chills me prices going up this much in a short time. If you don't own any precious metals/crypto's, I would urge you to start looking as this may be a very early warning sign of things to come.

Interesting! Any other observations?

Inflation...the hidden tax. Makes life tough for people who are on fixed incomes. All fiat currencies are inflationary...some more so than others. Take a look at Venezuela's currency. They are being hit with triple digit inflation. This is why I like BTC and LTC...deflationary and limited supply.

Combine increasing prices with taxes continually increasing and wages increasingly getting frozen, and we've got a very nasty potential picture of the future, to say nothing of the state of the dollar. Please let us know if you see any more of that around you. I've been noticing grocery prices going up, but I haven't created any data to track. Perhaps I should...

it surely points in a certain direction, thanx for the post

Oh my gosh - groceries for a family of four. I don't know how big families survive .... been going on for awhile but bad in the past 6 months. Remembering when bread was under $1 US. Now even crap GMO bread is $4-$6 per loaf. I grind flour and make our own.

Inflation is becoming a problem here in the uk 🇬🇧 now, do you believe it's by accident???

Me personally, I don't believe anything happens by accident anymore. It's all one big show until they close the curtains and we see a brick wall behind the curtain.

Couldn't agree more

Super sound advice! Inflation is inevitable as the 24/7 digital fiat printing presses continue just making currencies out of thin air all around the world. I would also suggest learning how to and to grow a garden cause food at some point will go ballistic. Stop eatin' that fast food brother. The SAD diet will KILL you eventually. Enjoyed.

It will get even worst than this. Wait till you see a whole chicken at $20 per piece. It's coming. Can you imagine if they increase the fed interest rate to where it is supposed be at to counter the deficit? I think real inflation to tackle the national debt is way above 20%, and yet they are suppressing it at "near zero". It's going to be bad, and I feel sorry for those who refuse to learn about this thriving cryptocurrency monetary order. The only way people will be able to survive in the near future is to transfer their wealth into cryptos. Steem on!

I work as a chef In the food service industry, I've noticed the prices from our distributor have skyrocketed, and like any struggling small restaurant we had to put that cost onto the customer. Mind you, we hate it as much as the people paying extra do. It's not us making extra money in profit. It's so we can keep the same quality products without risking "going under"

Globalists are desperate to bring down Tump's economy.

That is true, however it seems that this trend goes back further than even Trump's literal birth.

Taking a shot in the real dark... I'd say December 1913 when the Federal Reserve was snuck into law by a literally absent Congress.

nice one! End the Fed, feed the people!

Yes , good job

I know, price of food has been going up big time here in LA, even when you visit fast food places such as MCD we used to pay half of what we pay now a few years back.

I see even more inflation at the grocery store with products that have increased prices and now include smaller portions. A product that used to be 16 oz. is now a couple oz. smaller but the price keeps going up.

I just googled Nabisco graham crackers. They come in a box of 14.4 oz.

I was at Taco Bell yesterday. Gone are the dollar menus. A crunchy taco now costs $1.29 with tax in California! The same phenomenon is happening at McDonald's and Jack In The Box. The US Dollar is turning into toilet paper! This is why I am parking some of my cash in Crypto.

It's a shame really. Salaries are not moving fast enough up to match inflation. Wait until the unsuspecting person/persons realize what hits them when its too late. Pure chaos when they realize what they own will be worthless or not enough to make it.

Is there anyway you can stock up on food? The preppers and homesteaders have the right idea and are glad to share all their knowledge.

I notice this now more than ever in my lifetime. The 80's were harsh and 08 wasn't too great either. Prompted me to garden full time and have a connection to local meat producers...if you can buy a whole pig or cow to put in the freezer, it helps when the shit hits the fan! Great post!
