Taste is one of the most important human senses, it works by means of taste buds or receptors, which are sensitive to soluble substances in the tongue. These buttons or papillae send reactions to the brain at the time of perceiving salty, sweet and bitter flavors.
This sense can suffer thousands of diseases, such as ageusia and hipogeusia, which are diseases that prevent perceiving the tastes, whether salty or sweet.

Like ageusia and hypogeusia, there is another disease of taste such as dysgeusia; This disorder is one of the most frequent, so it is vital to know how the disease is produced and presented.
Many situations have arisen, where this disease is caused by small cases, such as taking medication, for a simple cold, however, dysgeusia is presented for many more reasons, which lead to a permanent disorder.

How does dysgeusia act?

The sense of taste is totally changed by this disorder, because people who suffer from it tend to always have an unpleasant taste in their mouth, because this disease does not allow the buttons or taste buds to act as they usually do. The flavor of the food is perceived in another way, such as a metal flavor or simply a bitter taste.

Smell and taste are closely related, that is why it is called temporary dysgeusia when you experience loss of taste when you suffer from colds or flu.

Dysgeusia is one of the disorders that are temporary or permanent, since this disease can be seen to have brain injuries and suffer from depression, similarly occurs when changing the levels of hormones.

Similarly, addiction to smoking not only causes cancer, since it has been proven that over time can cause dysgeusia, many people have claimed that the perception of the flavors has changed after a time of smoking.

Symptoms of dysgeusia

As previously mentioned, dysgeusia does not allow the cells located in the taste buds to send the reaction to the brain, so that it deciphers the flavors and makes this information known.

People with this disorder tend to:

• Perceive flavors in different ways.
• Begin to observe changes in flavors progressively.
• The sweet, salty and bitter flavors are replaced by earthy, metal or simply unpleasant and bitter tastes, umami flavors are no longer appreciated.

Several cases have been observed where a variety of drugs cause this disorder, causing the person to undergo zinc treatments.

Taste, like the other senses, is of utmost importance and on several occasions suffers injuries such as burns on the tongue that develop diseases that do not allow to distinguish the flavors, that is why the disorders that can be observed are made known. in taste so that in this way we have the knowledge if at some point it happens to happen to us; although it should be emphasized that besides being important, this knowledge becomes curious.
