"Elon Musk is a pathological liar, a charlatan and a Super Villain. I have nothing against him but..."
See the first comment for this thread that I think is an important read for the Elon fanboys out there. Yes, it's very biased even if it claims to "have nothing against him," but it does raise some important examples of where Elon Musk was acting like the bad guy. Not "Super Villain" status in my book, but certainly something to be aware of and cautious about.
The main theme I took away from it is that Elon (according to the admittedly mainstream media sources which are being less and less trusted these days and rightfully so) will go after you hard if you publicly shame, correct, or disagree with him.
But what about if you work for him? Many of the examples involve people being fired, and I have to wonder (as someone who co-ran a business for ten years), why would a business owner want to keep paying someone who didn't believe in their leadership? I certainly wouldn't. As long as there are proper channels to receive and adjust to feedback (which, according to this "Super Villain" thread were not at all in place), then I'm fine with someone going public being let go. To me it's along the lines of "You have freedom of expression, but you aren't immune to the consequences of your words and actions."
F around and find out.
Does that suppress speech in some way? It sure does! The same way your rational mind might suppress you from saying or doing something stupid which might get you slapped. The idea that people can say whatever they want under the banner of "Free Speech" and expect no consequences is silly. Equally silly is to think threats and past behavior against those who speak out doesn't cause a significant stifling of speech.
So where's the middle ground? I don't really know, but I think it has something to do with being open to criticism, adjusting your core beliefs as needed when you are wrong, and at the same time standing true to your Maxims or principles that work for your life, regardless of the haters.
Elon, like any celebrity figure, is going to be deeply misunderstood by most people who don't actually know him as a human being. My current stance is to admire from a distance, but don't have overly strong opinions because I can't personally prove them either way. Take the good with the bad, there are no perfect heroes.
Maybe there are reasons to include him in the villain category based on your moral calculus (and the tweet thread definitely provides a lot of ammunition to that end), but I also admire the way his mind works and what appears to me to be big steps towards a larger human experience. You can claim it's all just smoke and mirror lies, but I see too much progress in things like SpaceX, Tesla, and Neuralink to agree (at this point).
Elon is a polarizing figure and the last time I posted about him, there was a lot of black and white thinking (and anger) in the comments. Please, take a breath and think before you respond. Most likely, you don't actually know but you are responding emotionally due to triggers you have (either for our against him). Ideally, we can hold opposing views and still function, always updating our meaning making along the way.
If MSM calls/makes somebody a villain those days it is reason for me to give him/her a closer look. Quite often it turns out those villains are rather on my side of things.
(in Europe most of the critical thinkers have been called nazis, liars, anti-social, since the beginning of 2020)
In Musk's/Twitter's case I think he is perceived as a threat to the narration of the elites. EU already threatened to ban Twitter, if Musk doesn't continue to let them utilize it for their purposes.
BUT, I am also strongly biased, I love his rocketry ;)
I think Musk has achieved great things with Tesla and SpaceX, but he does tend to make everything about him. I don't even follow him on Twitter, so I just see some of it, but he seems to say things just to get a reaction sometimes. He says he's all about 'free speech', but as the owner of a social platform he finds it's not so black and white. I've cut down on using Twitter for various reasons, but his takeover was a factor. For now I'm seeing less from him and that's okay. There are some people I don't need to hear from all the time to maintain my sanity.
I do wonder what would happen if some billionaire decided to buy into Hive. I know one tried to take it over before and it would be harder to do that now, but someone with a huge stake could change the dynamic. I doubt it would happen for now as the audience is too small.
Twitter was one of the main tools to further the C19 agenda. I am quite optimistic about Musk's takeover. With quite a grain of salt, for sure.
Everyone sees different stuff on there. I don't buy into the 'cult of Elon' ;)
No cult is worth buying into it ;)
I personally don’t like him, I don’t agree with using animals as test subjects, so I draw my opinion from that.
After that, who knows who to trust these days, the media has so much influence over the way people think. If someone is in the spotlight I really believe they have been allowed to be. What we are being exposed to, feels very controlled.
So my trust lies away from all of that, there are far too many important things going on in our own personal lives. X
Curious if you ever think testing on animals that might save many humans is justified. Would the alternative to test on humans or just do without those advances altogether?
If it is done o a voluntary basis where the person is informed fully then it's up to the person. Animals have no choice in the matter and are treated like thrash. If it is for human advancement then open it up to human's trials. We all know people are being experimented on anyhow, many without even realizing it. Consent is the big thing for me xx
So far, he's been mostly spot on for my taste. Should be trust anyone with out caparcity to express ourselves, r a t h e r n o t, especially not if that entitiy is striktly bount by the current aplicable law of ALL COUNTRIES they are officially available right now.
People should not have to bow to the current thing, the current currency or the current lawset of a region. But, hey, that's not news in this space we're keeping occupied here.
