Did you know that you can improve the Wi-Fi signal with aluminum foil?

Finding the ideal place in your home or office to have a good internet signal can be a complicated task. Although the range of Wi-Fi devices is getting higher, it always happens that the signal fails.

Although we do not see them, electromagnetic waves travel through glass, wood or concrete. But there is a material that could be more useful to you: metal.

How does it work?

The metal, in this case the aluminum, causes the waves to bounce, achieving an adaptation to distribute Wi-Fi where it is most needed.

Investigadores del darmouth college, New Hampshire en Estados Unidos, descubrieron que con aluminio es posible hacer un reflector de señalpara amplificar el alcance y desviar otras redes -como las de los vecinos-.

The antennas in the routers are usually omnidirectional, so with the help of a reflector made with a pair of aluminum sheets it is possible to direct the waves to the direction where they are most used.

You only need to accommodate the router facing the direction you want to push the Wi-Fi and place the aluminum sheets in a half circle form behind the router. In case you want to address to opposite sides, you can use a cardboard covered with aluminum and mold it in an S-shape, in this way each of the two antennas will be surrounded and send signal to two different sides.

AND YOU? DO YOU KNOW ANOTHER WAY TO IMPROVE THE WIFI SIGNAL?
