Companies are like societies in miniature, in which different types of people coexist with ideas, beliefs, habits, customs and energies that are very different and, often, totally opposed.

Among that diversity of personalities you will find great companions, some may even become your friends, some more will not be to your liking, or you will not like them, but regardless of the differences, you can maintain a cordial relationship.

On the other hand, there are also toxic people, which can hinder your performance or cause problems in the equipment.

Toxic people are characterized by disturbing the environment and the well-being of those around them, through negative attitudes and comments. In addition, they tend to be liars, envious, arrogant, self-centered, angry and complaining. While some prefer to be isolated and alone, others constantly seek to be the center of attention.

These are the people who tend to see the negative side of everything, spread rumors and gossip, delay the work of the team, always take the opposite and belittle others or their opinions. In addition, they tend to be little or not at all friendly and dealing with them is difficult for most of those around them.

It is important to know that most of these attitudes arise from people who have low self-esteem and insecurity. So, they use these behaviors and attitudes to make others' lives miserable and feel less dissatisfied with themselves.

When those toxic partners are not related to your work, it is best to avoid them and keep your distance with them. But if you are part of your team, you must inevitably relate to them, do everything possible to make that relationship cordial and respectful and not let their negative attitudes affect you.

How to prevent the presence of toxic partners affect you?

1. Accept them.

Since it is not in your hands to change their attitude, it is best to accept that they are like that and put what is on your side so that the relationship with them is handled on mutual respect.

2. Do not fall in your game.

Limit the relationship with these people to the workplace and deal with them only matters related to your activities in the company. Do not get carried away by their negativity or their complaints, and do not believe everything they tell you, it is very likely that it is gossip and rumors.

3. Do not take it personally.

It is normal for you to feel bad or assaulted if a co-worker has a negative, rude or hurtful behavior. The key is not to let that person make you feel bad or lose control of your emotions.

For this, keep in mind that your personality is what makes you act like that, and surely behaves in the same way with other members of the team. So, it does not mean that something is wrong with you.

4. Never look for approval.

As we said, it is important to limit the relationship only to the labor field and, not even here, seek to please them or to get along with them. In doing so, you elevate their ego and give them power over you, but no matter how much you do, you will never give them pleasure and they will never give you reason or praise your work, since selfishness and envy are part of their being.

5. Focus on your work.

While the bad attitudes of others do not affect you personally or in the performance of your work, let the world roll and do not give them greater importance. Concentrate on doing your job well because, in the end, that is what speaks well or badly of each one within the company.

6. Face the problem.

If for more than you put on your part and keep your reservations with toxic people, they do not stop interfering in your activities or bother you more directly, then you must face them.

It is best to first speak directly with the toxic partner in question. In a calm, kind and respectful way, let her know that her attitude or behavior toward you makes you uncomfortable. Ask what bothers you or why you do it and find a solution. It is important that you do not face it if you are angry or out of your box, because that will only make the situation worse.

If this does not work and the assaults or interference with your work continue, the next step may be to discuss the issue with your direct boss and the person in charge of human resources, to advise, support and, if necessary, take letters in The issue.

Finally, it is important that you learn to manage your emotions when dealing with toxic people, especially if you find them at work. Maintaining serenity and an attitude of respect and cordiality is usually the best weapon against its toxicity. So focus more on yourself and your work and try to ignore what toxic partners do or say.
