RISKS OF EXCESSIVE SALT AND SUGAR CONSUMPTION.

in #english6 years ago

Hello community, today I want to share a great topic of interest, as is the excessive intake of salt and sugar, which can have great consequences affect health

fuente

Salt and sugar are necessary for the proper functioning of the body: the first is useful in maintaining the blood pressure and extracellular fluids and the second provides the energy that the body needs to work properly.

However, excess intake of these nutrients can have various complications in heart, kidneys and microcirculation, in addition to being linked to chronic conditions.

Regarding sugar, the ideal portion varies according to the condition and state of health of each person; However, it is common for the population to exceed the consumption of it.

fuente

Therefore, there has been an increase in the number of patients with degenerative diseases such as hypertension and diabetes, conditions that also occur at younger and younger ages.

fuente

Excessive intake of salt can cause fluid retention, which leads to weight gain; This forces the liver, kidneys and heart to function above their normal levels. It has important repercussions on the cardiovascular system, since excessive consumption of sodium raises blood pressure and causes renal, hepatic and cardiac failure.

fuente

Ingesting large amounts of sugar over a prolonged period produces high levels of blood sugar, a condition that, when sustained for a long time, can cause damage to the kidneys, heart and eyes, among other organs.

High levels of blood sugar are the main cause of hypertriglyceridemia, which refers to the alteration of fats or lipids in the body and increases the risk of heart disease

✔Then I leave the list of risks for excess.

▶For sugar:

•Deterioration of the dental cavities: those responsible for the deterioration of the teeth are the bacteria that feed on the simple sugars, the so-called monosaccharides, and produce the acid that in turn destroys the tooth enamel.

• Uncontrolled hunger: it has been shown after several studies that fructose (a type of sugar) influences leptin, a hormone that controls the sensation of hunger. The chronic consumption of fructose causes resistance to leptin, which contributes to a person losing control over hunger.

• Weight gain

• The sugars cause the body to demand more insulin, a hormone that is responsible for transforming food into energy. Once the level of insulin increases, it causes the body's resistance to it, so that glucose begins to form in the blood, the main factor that triggers obesity.

•Diabetes: the main factor causing diabetes is the consumption of soft drinks, energy drinks, soft drinks and lemonades. People who consume one or two cans of these drinks daily are at a much higher risk of developing diseases such as type 2 diabetes.

• Obesity: apart from diabetes, the consumption of soft drinks, being rich in sugar, also causes weight gain

• Pancreatic cancer: Pancreatic cancer, one of the deadliest cancers, can be a consequence of overconsumption of sugar.

•Chronic renal insufficiency.

• Hepatic steatosis or fatty liver.

•Arterial hypertension.

▶For salt:

•It is the leading cause of stroke, causing brain hemorrhages, which cause approximately one third of deaths from circulatory diseases. A high percentage of people who survive a stroke suffer serious physical and neurological sequelae for the rest of their lives.

•It causes heart failure and heart attacks, as the heart becomes unable to pump blood needed for the body.

• It hinders the function of the kidneys, decreases filtration, enhances hypertension, in addition to predisposing to the formation of kidney stones.

• It diminishes the amount of calcium, to greater elimination of sodium through the urine, greater elimination of calcium.

It is important to encourage people to enjoy a balanced, healthy diet and to perform physical and recreational activities. The goal is to begin to incorporate new foods when preparing food and to reduce the consumption of sodium and sugar to enjoy a full and healthy life, adopting healthy lifestyle habits is necessary to prevent diseases.
