Discipline Determines Effective Teaching-Learning Activity

Discipline is something that can enhance their responsibility upon the awareness of self-development. It is also determined the classroom environment in teaching-learning can happen successfully. This disciplinary problem has been a classic issue, where we used to find many of students neglected the discipline rule. We also have difficulty in enforcing the discipline to our students. That might come a serious problem when we deal with discipline. We commonly found the students arrive late in the class and we do many ways to change their habit. We continuously ask those students but we still unable to overcome, only some of them change temporary. Then, we strive to find the technique or strategy to cope this disciplinary problem. In very basic way, we discussed with our partner, we still find a

As may all know. Discipline is one of the keys to make them success in time management and as part of building the awareness of keeping the effective learning. In doing so, as good teacher, we must set a good plan to discipline classroom. We may have a good behavior teacher help us, a respected teacher whose behavior management can go a long way. In other hand, we have to have good class management skill when dealing with discipline, it mean we deal with management because discipline itself is defined as general problem that happened when students are disengaged in such an activity or we ignored their existence. We used to think that the first problem before beginning the class is students must calm down and listen to our speech while we don't realize students need to speak out and conveying their ideas. There, we must become an open minded teacher where we accept their inattention and that is possible to talk while we are presenting the lesson material. We must maintain the discipline in the classroom to create an effective learning-teaching environment.

In order to create a good classroom management and enforcing the discipline to our students. There are some approaches that may take our consideration:

  • Increase parental involvement
    Teacher can work alone, we must always build good communication with students’ parent as they can make a difference in student achievement and behavior. If we find the nondisciplinary student, we must contact their parent periodically till we have a solution or reasons why they always do that. Usually, parents can often provide solution to difficult classroom problem. In my school, the teacher-class would call students' parent to talk about disciplinary issue.

  • Create and Enforce a Schoolwide Discipline Plan
    Discipline is school responsibility in which, it must provide students with acknowledge consequences for misbehavior and nondisciplinary matter. In the way to create effective classroom management, school should include the dissemination and use of a discipline plan to apply the schoolwide discipline plan.

  • Establish Leadership
    The leadership of teachers as role model in enforcing the discipline at school. The actions of the school principal and assistant principals form the basis of the overall mood for the school. If they consistently support teachers, fairly implement the discipline plan, and follow-through on disciplinary actions, then teachers will follow their lead. If they slack on discipline, it becomes apparent over time and misbehavior typically increases.

  • Practice Effective Follow-Through
    Consistently following through on the action plan is the only way to truly foster discipline in schools. If a teacher ignores misbehavior in the classroom, it will increase. If administrators fail to support the teachers, they could easily lose control of the situation.

  • Provide Alternative Education Opportunities
    Some students need controlled environments where they can learn without distracting the wider school community. If one student continually disrupts a class and shows an unwillingness to improve his or her behavior, that student might need to be removed from the situation for the sake of the rest of the students in the class. Alternative schools provide options for disruptive or challenging students. Moving other students to new classes that can be controlled at the school level can also help in some situations.

Conclusion

There are many more strategies or techniques can be used to enforce discipline to our students, and it might have a difference way to handle the disciplinary problem, what may work for one teacher, it may not work for others but the purpose of enforcing the discipline to our students are more less the same. The discipline itself works as determination of success learning in the classroom and the ways that we can create effective teaching learning. As educators we realize the discipline is the key to achieve the best learning income.
