Its normal that predictions as regarding how the future will be, would be flying about always.
For as long as the human race has existed, there were always individuals who predicted that the world would follow a certain path.
At the turn of the 20th century, several predictions about how we would be living in the 21st century.
Likewise today, we already have several predictions of how humanity would be living in the future, from crazy mars and moon colonies, to the underground human remnants of a nuclear war.
So lets look from the past to the future and see how close we were and how close we might be in predicting the future.

personal flying machines and personal airships
See back in the early 1900, several cards so to speak, we created by special artists and printed on boxes containing chocolate from a german brand.
It was a marketing strategy, which focused on how humans would be living in the yesr 2000.
Of cause we know that personal flying machines arent a thing yet, and rather than personal airships, we have in existence private jets.
Its amazing just how close they were, yet still a bit off from what is existing today.
Private jets are ridiculously expensive and are used by so few people. But hey, its personal, its private, just not common.
Underwater ships for tourism
This one is fast turning into a reality , with companies like oceangate, today, we have submarines that basically make underwater tourism a reality.
However, not all predictions from the 1900 can be easily translated into modern times.
For example, the concept of a roofed city seems ridiculous right now, as the resources committed to making that happen would be better put into other aspects of society and whats up with people walking on water?
Apart from simple magic tricks, no one is really interested in walking on water, when we have boats capable of moving at x10 our walking speed.
The fact that many predictions from the 1900 were not far off from what we have today, does show how committed humanity is towards bringing innovative ideas to fruition.
Le future
For the future, no one knows what will happen, but concepts such as moon colonies are already being thrown about, the ability to have earth-space elevators could revolutionize transportation.
One amazing idea is one whoch i learn of while at techpoint 2018, revolution of transportation via affordable, useful, fast moving hyperloops.
Specially designed train-type vehicles which move at blinding speed to carry people and goods from one place to another.
The concept utilizes its own special tube, which is outfitted with special equipments.
The concept is still pretty fresh, and by 2100 should be well utilized.
The future holds a lot, and as we come to the end of the 2nd decade in the 21st century, we can only look on and guess upon what the future holds.
