STEEM Tribes
I'm sure by now that we are all familiar with our new tribes. There are tribes to cover investing, arts, sports, innovation and even the old reliable of porn. It seems as if there are new tribes pooping up on every corner like Starbucks.
It's brilliant. We finally have some filters for content and can see posts that are a lot more relevant to individuals. For too long the feeds were a flow of everything and nothing. Trending was a joke but we didn't have the options. Now the content is seperated onto different front-ends and trending is being decided by the users of each tribe and a lot of them have moderator accounts for the spam.
Is it perfect?
No, but it is a massive improvement on what had gone before and keeps adding new features to the tribes over time. We are still seeing the STEEM blockchain being built in real time and each step forward is adding more to the developing eco-system.
The only question now is, which is the tribe for you?? It's important to post to the right place and use the right tags to get your content there. We can still see a lot of posts ending up in the wrong place through either a lack of knowledge or a lack of giving two fucks about the other users on the site. A little bit of both I think.
Palnet
Palnet is a general tribe where the majority of content is welcomed. Formed by the group of administrators from Peace, Abundace and Libery they are a site that is there for the STEEM community. It doesn't have strict guidelines on what can be posted as long as the content is original and not spam.
One of the first tribes to be created it's based around giving people a space to post their content and to find other people with the same interests. It's moderated on both sides to bring good content to the front of the site and get it seen.

Neoxian
The tribe of Neoxian is the tribe of City of Neoxian. This is a general topic forum where nearly all sorts of posts are allowed. Content that is spam, plagiarism, broadly offensive (child porn, not safe for life, etc), threats of physical violence, or scams are not allowed.
Apart from that most content is good to go.

Sports talk social
Sportstalk is a tribe for all sports related content. It accepts posts across all niche to popular sports worldwide. @actifit automatically posts your daily steps to the tribe. E-sports are acceptable from the perspective of competitive gaming but not just games related posts. There is a mod account to prevent abuse of the site.
Looking for health, fitness, training, and sporting content. All other content will be moderated and taken down.

This is only a section of the tribes currently out there for users. Considering how new everything is I think that it gives a great variety of choice to people in finding their community. These are only the tribes that I know the most about but there are plenty more out there and I expect even more to come in the future. The more the system expands the harder it is to keep up with everything. God help us in a years time when there is 5 times more to look into.

Thanks for this information @niallon11. It's very clear as to which way I will be leading to when I write something. Things just crop up whenever you see things around you yet you find trouble on what tag to use. This is great!
It's great to find your place in the tribes and a lot more visibility. As they gin more users it will be interesting to see it all develop and new communities form around each tribe splitting up STEEM.

Indeed a lot of tribes! It is hard to choose the right ones for the posts!
It is now a waiting game to see which tribes will excel and which will hold value. Most are still loosing value!
