Monyet ini biasanya hidupnya di hutan mereka hidup bersama dengan keluarga di hutan di daerah Sulawesi namanya kera hitam atau dalam bahasa ilmiah mecaca Nigra atau monyet berjambul.
Kera hitam ini sekarang masih banyak di daerah Sulawesi kera memang harus di lindungi oleh pemerintah daerah maupun pemerintah pusat kera banyak sekarang di taman binatang di Jakarta Indonesia.
