Manaia : Kalor, The Tower of Infinity, and Hamador the Great

Very little is known about modern day Kalor, or whether it still exists at all. Since the deluge in Kafa, thought to have occurred 3000 years ago, the lands surrounding the ancient city have been near impossible to traverse, with many who have tried losing their lives in the process.

However, thanks to ancient documents excavated from tunnels beneath the Shevarah Desert, and over three decades of work from Agamar's top linguists, cryptographers and translators, there is much now that is known about ancient Kalor and the civilisation that inhabited the city between 4400 B.O and 3800 B.O.

According to the texts, Kalor was once home to a great and powerful warlock named Hamador, who ruled over the whole of Manaia from a castle that is said to have stretched beyond the clouds. Before Hamador, men were said to live in caves and trees, until he raised the first stone cities from the dirt with the power of his mind alone. It is also stated that he often executed dissenters and crushed entire rebellions with a single thought - even while he slept.

Being a master of mind and of body, it is told in the recovered documents, penned by an anonymous groups of authors, that Hamador lived almost 500 years. In the latter years of his life he is said to have become obsessed with the construction of a great tower, translated most often as The Tower of Infinity. The texts are unclear on the purpose of the tower or whether it was ever completed.

Hamador was by no means considered a just ruler, nor a man who concerned himself with morals. Forty sons and forty daughters he is said to have had, all of which he sacrificed in the pursuit of greater magical powers. And he is further stated within the texts to be responsible for the genocides of the once plentiful populations of elves and fairies, whose innate magical capabilities posed a threat to his dominion over Manaia.

Gold and silver were said to be of no consequence to Hamador, who accepted tributes from his subjects only in blood and deeds. But it was he who, according to the words of several of the pages' authors, introduced the love of gold and precious metals to man in order to better control them.

There is no specific mentioning of Hamador's death to be found, but it is written that his last born son succeeded him to his throne, and was killed less than two moons later by a people who had risen up against him.

Several academics in Agamar's greatest schools of history and theology disregard the writings as historically accurate and regard the findings as the world's first fiction novel. Others believe it to be a true, albeit biased recounting of Manaia's earliest years. But, with no known safe means of passage to Kalor to investigate, the truth of the matter remains a hot topic of debate.

This whole project that you have going with the world of Manaia is really cool. I wish I had a mind like that to create a world with stories and religions and culture. I'm impressed by the creativity of it. It's pretty amazing

Thanks a lot. I am sure you could do it too. It doesn't all just come at once. But, once you write about one thing, you get ideas about the next until it all starts to take shape. Plus, a lot of what I have written are allegorical references to things that already exist so the work load is lessened further.

I am certainly enjoying it a lot and have even started on occasion to have dreams set in my world which is quite thrilling and typically provides me with more content to write about when I awake. So, if it is something that interests you I would suggest you give it a try. I am sure it would turn out great if you put in enough time, and even more sure it would be fun.
