Thyme is an incredibly versatile herb has a strong and characteristic smell that is slightly similar to mint and can be dried or used fresh. Thyme is a nutritionally dense spice that surpasses many others, and its inclusion in its diet, thanks to its nutrient profile and the presence of several factors, ensures that phytochemicals are beneficial for your health.

Thyme is composed of numerous compounds, one of which is called carvacrol. It has been found that this compound has beneficial effects to improve mood when consumed steadily for only 7 days. This is achieved by increasing the levels of serotonin and dopamine, neurotransmitters that participate in the regulation of motivation, momentum and general mood. Although the exact amounts that need to be consumed are not fully understood, it is probably very safe and smart to eat a little in the diet every day if you want to maintain sanity.

Thyme is a natural antifungal, it is not only effective in killing bacteria, but it is also a useful antifungal. Thyme can treat the symptoms of candida infections, whether they occur as fungal infections, rashes or canker sores in the mouth. Try to eat thyme as much as possible in the foods you eat or, if you prefer, take one or two drops of the essential oil known as thymol.

Thyme has traditionally been used as an aid to lung function to reduce the symptoms of bronchitis of the respiratory tract. Bronchitis is a disease that causes inflammation of small structures in the lungs, known as bronchioles, which makes breathing deep and laborious. Thyme exerts anti-inflammatory effects on the lungs, helps with thin mucous secretions and also fights microbes that may be the cause of an underlying infection. Thyme also has an antibacterial effect, so it should also be used in respiratory diseases.

Thyme helps promote digestion and peristaltic muscle movements, so that food does not stay in the stomach for a long time. It also reduces swelling due to malabsorption and can relieve painful and unpleasant stomach cramps.

Thyme is a mild natural diuretic that gently promotes the release of urine and, when necessary, helps balance fluid and electrolyte levels. Diuresis is also useful for losing excess water weight, even more so if you participate in various fitness events.
