Fashionblogtips #1 : Being fit, with your feet!

If you’re in Nigeria, then chances are you’re one hell of a trekker, or at one point in time you trekked/walked for hours on end, possibly for a long period of time. The conditions we find ourselves in this country often means that we get our daily dose of exercise simply from engaging in our day to day activities.

Or do we?

So fashion

Its been ages since anything was posted on this blog, and quite frankly, since the change of hand and ownership of the blog, nothing much has gone on within this account.

The name of this account being ‘’fashionblogtips’’, there is no better place to talk aout exercise, fitness and ways to keep fit and healthy than here.

So lets buckle up, because today, Ill be treating a topic known as Being Fit with Feet

Put your best foot forward!

Ahh, fitness walking, the act of willingly going out doors and walking over a distance in order to keep fit. Couch potatoes often see this simple exercise as their worst nightmare, and the thought of power walking or fitness walking can be very annoying for those who love to stay home in bed.

(Though I do wonder what the hell will happen if they thought about jogging instead of simply
walking)

To be truthful though, only the laziest of laziest will find fitness walking to be a chore. Studies have found that a simple morning walk can reduce’’ premature death by almost a third!’’.

Walking is a an aerobic cardiovascular workout routine that can help keep you healthy

A daily stroll is also always good for the heart. No man ever died from trying to get his heart healthy(at least I do not think so). A daily fitness walk is capable of lowering blood pressures, improving lung capacities, help relieve stress, and helps open up the pores of the body via sweating.

Keeping fit with the walk

Its not only on the inside that magic happens when you decide to walk though, walking also helps improve muscle tone and agility.

The best part about fitness walking is that you need as a minimum, just a pair of running shoes. Even that your plain old snickers is good enough to start engaging in strolls in order to keep fit and healthy, the best part is, at any point during your stroll, you may decide to break into a jogging routine.

Of cause, before any change in routine is engaged, it must be planned before hand in order to get the maximum amount of benefits from the exercise.

Normally, you would find those who engage in walking, also routinely engage in other forms of exercise as well, most commonly running, jogging etc. You may also notice that a few people carry a light weight dumbbell with themselves s they walk. This is to improve hand-leg coordination, as well as build muscles in the hand and arm as well.

Preparing for your walk

It is important to consult your physician when engaging in any exercise in order to know how far you can push yourself, and if there are any health conditions you risk aggravating with the exercise.

Once thats done, the next step is to get your gears ready. Your shoe, dumbbells and other equipments as you deem necessary.
Before engaging in any walking, it is important to stretch the body. This gives you added flexibility, and prepares your body for the exercise ahead. It is no fun when instead of getting fit through exercise, you end up pulling a strain, or tearing a tendon/muscle/ligament.

Select your routes, get a timer, get some power up music and start your fitness walk.

Of cause you can also decide to walk on a treadmill, but what fun is that? If you’re home alone, or you’ve got an indoor treadmill, then you’re not going to have much fun in it. Its infinitely better to go outside and do this on the great plains!(or something like that)

Are you new?

Now as a newbie, there are certain tendencies for you to over exercise. This means you literally try to compress a weeks worth of exercise, into a full day routine. This attitude can have several consequences(read injuries above).

Its ok to go slow and steady, especially when it comes to exercising.
