This month my fashion label, HUX, is in a mainstream magazine, in print! It's my first feature in print, in English and it feels completely surreal.
For any small business, when you receive a sale you probably do a little dance. When you receive recognition it's earth shattering. When CLEO reached out asking to interview me for the impact I was making in the fashion industry, I thought I may as well give it a chance. I've always been cautious to say yes to interviews in the past. It was time to take the plunge and put my brand out there.
The feature is about slow fashion and the mark HUX is making in SE Asia. You can see the full feature below:
Here's some of my new collection I have been working on so you can get a feel for my brand. This isn't anywhere online or in stores yet.
I hand source my fabrics by hand. The fabrics used to make these new SAKA bucket bags are handwoven in the villages of Indonesia. They are vintage, but we don't know how old exactly. They could be up to 60 years old per piece. Each bag is different from the next so it really is completely unique. The bags are then handcrafted in Indonesia.
I'm aiming to make one-of-a-kind designer both handmade and affordable.
I'm sharing this to let other small businesses know that you can achieve the same. Hard work, dedication to a particular focus and a very strong belief in what you are doing can get you absolutely anywhere you want to be.
I'm a strong believer in what you put out to the universe you will receive. What do you think?

How incredible that CLEO wanted to interview you. That’s awesome & a great way to help educate fashion lovers on become more ethically aware about where what they are wearing is coming from & how it is sourced. Your bags are gorgeous!
